Low Carb Diet Food Is Vital For Your Weight Loss
by clemie - Thursday, 7 February 2008, 05:41 PM
Anyone in the world

By Tony Newton Due to the popularity of low carb diets, choosing the
correct low carb diet food is vital to your weight loss.
Many manufacturers have created their own range of
products, but quite often what they put on the
packaging doesn't always give you an accurate count
of the carbs included. As the main function of eating low carb diet food is
to lose weight, then checking exactly what is contained
in the foods you eat is a primary weight loss goal. Quite
often if an item is labelled as "low carb" it can easily
contain certain other items which will not suit your
own personal diet program, such as high in fats or other
substitutes. Many will be high in calories, even though they state they
are suitable for a low carb diet. Because in effect, they
are low in certain carbs but be high in other ingredients
that will greatly effect your weight loss. So to help with
choosing the correct low carb diet food, often cooking
your own meals can be the answer. Then you are not relying
on food labels and you will know exactly what it is you are
eating. After all, if you are going to the trouble of buying your
own low carb diet food and are serious about losing weight,
then you should really know exactly what you are eating. As your main target should be to eat less calories than
you burn off on your diet, knowing exactly how many calories
you consume each day with low carb diet food becomes an
integral part of most diet plans. So know your numbers,
be focussed and most of all, enjoy being a fitter and healthy
person. Find out how to lose 20 pounds in just 30 days with an
easy low carb diet that anyone can follow. The secrets
of a low carb guru are waiting for you here -

Add Color to Your Garden Throughout the Winter Months with Winterberry Holly 'Winter Red'
by clemie - Thursday, 31 January 2008, 06:26 PM
Anyone in the world

By Alan Summers When most people think of a holly, the traditional Christmas holly comes to mind. However, there are far more options now available to gardeners that can add much welcomed color throughout the winter months. This week we are featuring one of our favorite hollies, the 'Winter Red.' Liven Your Winter Landscape
Winterberry 'Winter Red' is a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub that will mature into a lovely rounded shape. The vibrant green foliage will cover your 'Winter Red' from spring until fall when it will then turn a glimmering bronze, then yellow and then fall to the ground. The falling leaves make way for a show of clusters of brilliant red berries clinging to every stem, bringing delightful color to normally dreary winter landscapes and providing food for neighborhood birds. The stems can also be cut and kept in a vase with no water for months - imagine how beautiful that will look on your mantel or as a centerpiece! Hollies are normally associated with moist areas, but the 'Winter Red' is very hardy and will thrive in normal soil. Choose an area that receives full sun to part shade and watch it thrive. You can expect your 'Winter Red' to mature to a height of 6 to 7 feet tall. 'Winter Red' is deciduous, so a male holly is needed for pollination. The most reliable pollinator that we have found is Ilex verticillata 'Southern Gentleman', another choice holly. Plant at least one male for each three or four females. Planting and Care Plant spring to early fall. Prefers full sun to part shade. Plant 4-5 feet apart. Water regularly until established. Fertilize with Holly-Tone in the spring and fall. Hardy in zones 3-8. Click here to view 'Winter Red' on the Carroll Gardens website. Alan Summers, president of Carroll Gardens, Inc., has over 30 years experience in gardening and landscape design. He has made Carroll Gardens one of Americas preeminent nurseries, having introduced more than 20 new perennials and woody shrubs over the years and reintroduced numerous lost cultivars back to American gardeners. Skin Serums - Not Your Mother's Cold Cream
by clemie - Wednesday, 30 January 2008, 08:11 AM
Anyone in the world

By Clara Myers Among the many elixirs, gels, and balms at the beauty counter, you may notice a prevalence of products called serums. What exactly are serums? Do you really need another product to put on your face? Well, yes. Think of serums as laser targeted solutions to skin problems. Serums do one thing very well. For example, if you had a calcium deficiency, would you take a multivitamin with a little calcium in it or an individual calcium tablet? You'd get more benefit from taking that individual calcium tablet, and that's how a serum works. It solves one problem very well. Pretty much every major manufacturer of skin care products has a serum in their lineup so if you have a favorite skin care line, chances are good it has a serum. You should have no problem finding serums for: Fine lines and wrinkles Under eye circles Dark spots Redness Dryness Pimples Serums usually come in a half ounce or one ounce bottle. You may be a little shocked at the price in comparison to the size of the bottle; however keep in mind a one ounce bottle will last a year even if you use it everyday. Serums are concentrated so a little goes a long way. Also, your particular problem may be seasonal in which case the serum will last even longer. Many serums take advantage of the latest scientific developments in dermatology. You will find quite a few serums infused with nutraceuticals which are plant-based compounds that have biological activity in the body. Its common to find serums infused with Vitamin C, green tea, herbs, or other plant-based additives. This is a good thing. Plant-based products are much less likely to cause a bad skin reaction. Vitamins and herbs have a long track record of success, and its great that modern science has found ways to infuse them in skin care products. 2007, Clara Myers. Visit

The Pros and Cons of Payday Loans
by clemie - Tuesday, 29 January 2008, 03:06 PM
Anyone in the world

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Kenny]Joseph Kenny These days payday loans have become extremely popular and in fact, it would seem that everywhere you turn there is an offer for a payday loan to get you the extra money you need until the next payday. Are payday loans really a good idea; however? Sure, they can help you out when you are in a tight spot financially but there are several serious factors that need to be considered before you actually take out such a loan. First, lets take a look at how payday loans work. Usually the lender will agree to lend you a specified amount of money for a certain period of time. For example, lets say you needed $200 to cover some unexpected expenses. You would borrow the $200 and write out a postdated check for two weeks hence to cover the amount of the loan plus the finance fee, which would be around $60 for this size loan. So, in two weeks the lender expects to be able to cash that check for $260 to recoup the loan extended to you. Before taking out the loan, it is extremely important to ask yourself whether you will really be able to afford to pay back the loan when it comes due. Most payday loans are made on a two week to four week basis. In the event that you cant pay back the loan at the end of that timeframe most payday loan companies will be quite happy to extend the loan; however, if you do that you will be charged more interest. This brings up an interesting point because it can be difficult to determine how much interest youre paying on a payday loan when it involves numerous extensions. The truth of the matter; however, is that depending on the number of extensions you take on the loan you may actually be paying 300% interest, at a minimum. No, thats not a typo. How can they do that? Because there are no regulations regarding the amount of interest charged on payday loans when they are extended in this fashion. As you can well imagine, with this type of interest rate, you may never be able to pay back the loan. Depending on how long you continue to extend the loan, you may actually end up paying far more than that. Based on our earlier example, if you extended the loan three months after the original due date you would owe almost $500; more than double the amount you originally borrowed. There can also be other problems associated with taking out a payday loan, as well. For example, if you happen to unfortunately be working with a company that is less than scrupulous you may find yourself owing bounced check fees as well. This can be a real danger if the lender deposits your post-dated check prior to the agreed upon date or if you dont have enough funds in your account to cover the check on the date you agreed upon. When all factors are taken into consideration, payday loans can be a dangerous risk and should only be considered if you truly have no other alternatives, such as taking out a small loan from your bank or credit union, borrowing from family or friends or simply making arrangements with your debtor to wait until you receive your next paycheck. Save Big By Being Patient
by clemie - Monday, 28 January 2008, 09:28 AM
Anyone in the world

By Jeffrey Strain When people claim they have saved money or found a great deal, you usually hear about the time, effort and research they put into getting the bargain. This gives the impression that getting good deals takes a lot of work. While good research and organization can go a long way to getting you great deals, the truth is that doing nothing is often your best resource when getting a great deal. The personal quality of patience is rarely mentioned when reading about how to get the best deal, but if you are a person who can simply wait, you'll save yourself thousands of dollars a year. In this instant gratification society, having the patience to wait even a short amount of time can cut expenses dramatically. While the Jones' are trading in for a new luxury car every 2 years and purchasing the latest and greatest gadgets as soon as they hit the retail stores, if you have the patience to wait, you can often get the same items at a fraction of the cost. People who don't have patience end up paying premium prices. A recent example is Google Gmail email accounts. These are email accounts that are going to be free to anyone who wants them. When the trial for the accounts was first announced, however, you could only get them by an invitation from a friend. Many people considered them a must have item when they were first announced and paid as much as $100 for one less than a year ago. They now sell for less than a dollar on online auction sites and you can even find many places where the Gmail accounts are being given away for free. Another good example of where patience pays is with cars. You're likely to pay near full price for a car when the new year model is released. If you have the patience to wait 9 months, you can get the same brand new car for a lot less as the dealer tries to sell out inventory for the next new car models coming in. If you have even more patience and can wait a couple of years (and don't mind a slightly used car) you can save yourself thousands more. Patience can save is many small ways which together add up to a lot of money. You can pay $25 for the family to go to the movies to see the latest release or wait a few months and rent the movie for less than $5. That's a 500% savings. You can pay full retail price for the latest Harry Potter book, or wait less than a month and pick it up on an online auction or used bookstore for a fraction of the price. If you have a little more patience, you can borrow it for free from your local library. While patience in combination with other traits like organization and research can multiply the saving benefits, those who have a hard time with those other skills can still save by merely being patient. All it takes sitting back, taking it easy and waiting a few months until all the hype around the product in question disappears. Student Loans - Why Would I Need A Student Loan?
by clemie - Sunday, 27 January 2008, 12:24 PM
Anyone in the world

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ken_Charnley]Ken Charnley Throughout the years, many new high school graduates have had to rely on student loans to attend the college of their choice. With each passing year, college tuition rises and the competition increases for scholarships as well. This means that most students entering college have a real need for student loans. Receiving student loans can help new college students learn how to manage their money, once they graduate. In the year 2005, the cost of attending an in state four-year college sat at forty-one thousand dollars. If you were attending an out-of-state college, the tuition averaged between sixty to eighty thousand dollars. If their parents were wealthy, students had no problems with this price. Otherwise, student loans were a necessity. However, this does not mean that student loans are the only choice for attending college. Typically, the costs of college are covered from many different sources; however, student loans usually cover the majority of it. You can combine a student loan with working part time, plus applying for a small scholarship to help ease some of the debt resulting from attending college. When it comes to student loans, the most important aspects are the terms of paying them off. Typically, student loans are really flexible, especially if offered by the government at the federal level. These types of student loans have much lower rates of interest and the interest is not calculated while attending school. In fact, you do not begin paying on the loan until after you have graduated college and then not until between 6 and 9 months later. This allows you the opportunity to seek out employment, which will give you the ability to repay the loan. It is important that if you are contemplating attending college, that you give student loans some real consideration. Federal Direct Loans
by clemie - Saturday, 26 January 2008, 02:58 PM
Anyone in the world

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Richard_Romando]Richard Romando Do you need a large amount of money immediately but are afraid of high-interest direct loans from private lenders? Then try applying for federal direct loans instead. You can enjoy lower interest rates and more flexible payment terms unmatched by private lenders. What are federal direct loans? Federal direct loans refer to a family of federal loan programs offered by the government. Federal direct loans are government-subsidized loans for students and unsubsidized loans for both students and parents. They are generally low-interest, long-term loans that are much easier to pay than regular private loans. A subsidized federal direct loan is awarded on the basis of financial need. This kind of loan waives interest before repayment or during legitimate periods of deferment. The federal government pays for the interest during these periods. An unsubsidized loan, on the other hand, is open to all prospective borrowers regardless of financial status. Interest is charged from the time the loan is disbursed up until the day it is paid in full. Remember not to allow the interest to build up while you are in periods of nonpayment. Otherwise, it will be capitalized. This means that the interest will be added to your principal amount. In essence, if your interest is capitalized, the amount you have to pay increases. Its a good idea to pay off the interest as it accumulates, if you can afford to you will end up paying less in the long run. Federal direct loans are available through schools and universities. Remember that the federal government typically asks for more documentary requirements than regular private lenders, so it is best to inquire early. The application process also takes longer because of the volume of applicants. So file as early as you can. Cosmetic Surgery - The Best Way To Get A Better Looking And More Polished Look
by clemie - Thursday, 24 January 2008, 09:56 AM
Anyone in the world

By James Hegarty For most people seeking a way to look good and improve their appearance cosmetic skin surgery is usually the most sought after option. Cosmetic surgery is a procedure that is undertaken by most people both young and old as well as men and women. With cost bearing on the minds of people who want to reverse aging or improve their looks better and more cost effective ways have been developed so a individuals can carry out cosmetic surgery without having to bear exorbitant costs. In the past the most common option available to people seeking to improve their appearance was liposuction and facelifts. These other forms of were usually aimed at changing the way an individual looked. Cosmetic surgery today has moved away from changing the way an individual looks and is more geared towards helping an individual look better or simply improve their look. The goal today is to help individuals look younger, healthier and more beautiful without altering their features. Cosmetic surgery procedures achieve this by utilizing a different approach. Rather than nicking or tucking parts of the skin away which is invasive, cosmetic surgery uses different types of fillers which are non invasive. For example rather than pulling skin around wrinkles to tighten it the filler method fills out the parts with skin fillers like botox to achieve a younger looking skin. The botox treatment is a very popular non invasive cosmetic surgery method as botox has many functions. It clears away wrinkles, as well frown and laugh lines while helping to relax muscles. Many people find that cosmetic surgery is the most effective and efficient way to correct unwanted feature. The best part is that it works and today is not as exorbitant as it used to be. What Can You Learn About Human Relationships From A Squirrel?
by clemie - Wednesday, 23 January 2008, 09:12 AM
Anyone in the world

By Dan Ohler The squirrel chattered loudly from his position on a high spruce branch. Then he made a mad dash down the branch, a mighty jump to the deck, across the deck and up into the bird feeder. He carefully placed a small mushroom and zoom, retraced his steps into the tree again. Back and forth, in and out, up and down the squirrel went. The bird feeder was being filled with mushrooms, spruce cones, and gobs of lichen. It looked like great fun, but I was guessing that this was stressful work that needed to be done before winter hit. In the foray of busy, hurry, got-a-go-quicker-to-get-more-done activity, totally consumed by the work, unaware of anything else going on, neither the squirrel nor I noticed Flag, the cat until it was too late. Sorry folks. It did not go well for the squirrel. You may be thinking, Thats cruel, Dan. Why are you telling us that? Or you may say, Hey, thats natures way. Its a game of predator and prey. Either way, it is very similar to what goes on in the game of life, as we humans play it. Do you ever have the experience of being really busy in your life, where you and your spouse or partner are going separate directions at different times, and you may not see much of each other for days at a time? In the busy-ness of life, your communication with each other may be notes on the table or phone calls such as: I havent got time to talk. Could you please open the XYZ Association file and give me Joes phone number? I know we planned to be together on Saturday afternoon, but something has come up. Uhhmm, that date we booked for the two of us tonight? We need to cancel that. Ive got too much work to do. Sound familiar? Through analyzing our past behaviours, coaching couples, watching friends, and family, it seems that this happens a lot. Usually, people are so caught up in their squirrel-like activities, focused on their own stuff that they are unaware of the unspoken messages that are hollered by their actions actions such as being rude, abrupt, sarcastic, breaking agreements, and ignoring. I dont believe that we do these things intentionally, and yet the underlying message, everything else is more important than my relationship with you may be loud and clear. Then we are totally surprised, may feel blindsided, when our husband, wife, or partner wants a divorce, has an affair, or admits that he/she just doesnt love us anymore. Or one of our best friends, with whom weve broken agreements time and time again, doesnt want to talk to us anymore. By then, severe damage has been done to the relationship, and it may be too late to reconcile the differences. The trust, romance, passion, and friendship may be gone. Ouch! Years ago, Carol and I came so close to ending our relationship because of this everything else is more important attitude that we both had. It was confusing and not a lot of fun. We are now consciously aware of how this works and absolutely will not allow it to happen for us. And we sure dont want it to happen for you either. Soguess what folks? Here are more challenges for you, if you choose to accept. 1. Make time today, not tomorrow, to connect with someone you love and care for. Yeah, you may be busy, yet there is always time for a hug or a phone call to ask How are things going for you today? Then LISTEN and HEAR. It shows you care. 2. Consciously keep every single agreement you have made with yourself or others. If you absolutely cannot keep your agreement, consciously renegotiate a new agreement and keep that one. Continually renegotiating agreements is the same as not keeping one in the first place. You, and others, lose faith that you actually mean what you say. 3. Consciously act in ways that give positive, trustful, loving messages (spoken and unspoken). Think about your current choice of action and the possible consequences to the relationship. 4. There are no more challenges. Those first three are enough for now. Like you, I will be consciously accepting these challenges in the coming months because it seems that I wont be sleeping much in my own bed. No, I have not been demoted to sleeping with my canine friend, Tip. I have the opportunity to deliver keynotes and workshops to folks in many communities across Canada. While I am away, I know that my relationship with Carol grows deeper and richer, as we make time to communicate affectionately and effectively every day. If you read my last two articles, Chronic family melt-downs. Do you think that food can solve the problem? and Multiple Personality Disorder: Ive Got It, Do You?, you may be expecting me to offer you squash or zucchini for accepting these challenges. Sorry folks, the squash and zucchini were caught in natures game of predator and prey. Like Flag the cat, the deer are smiling. Smile a big genuine smile, my friends!
