Setting Your Financial Priorities
by clemie - Monday, 16 June 2008, 04:50 PM
Anyone in the world

By Terry Rigg Whether you know it or not, you are always setting your financial priorities. Some may decide that a new stereo system is more inportant than this month's electric bill. This may be a little off the wall but it is still setting your priorities. Anyone wanting to better manage their money would be wise to determine what their financial priorities are and stick to them. Of course, if you see that these priorities will not put food on the table and pay your bills then you will have to rethink your priorities. Setting your priorities is simple. You just decide what is the most important aspect of your finances and put that item on top. However, if you decide on that stereo over your electric bill, you may find yourself in the dark with no need for a stereo. There are basic priorities that pertains to everyone. These are simply a matter of survival. Here is a list of the basics: Water
Food
Shelter That was a tough one. What does it take to ensure that our basic needs are met? The main ingredient is a source of income to pay the rent or house payment, pay the utilities, and buy the groceries. This is where you start setting your priorities. Before you can spend another penny, you have to take care of what you need to survive. Don't put off the rent or house payment, utilities and don't skimp on your groceries and necessary health items. If you do you will start experiencing money problems much sooner than you would if you had delayed paying other bills instead. What's next? If your source of income happens to come from a job, then I would say your transportation. You have to get back and forth to work so you can afford all of the other stuff. This would include your vehicle payment, gas, insurance and maintenance. If your source of income is not a job then go to the next step. And Now? Naturally, this would be your other bills. You can even split this category a little further. First, you have your bills that are secured by property. You should always pay these bills first. Secondly, your unsecured bills which are probably credit cards. The reason you should always pay your secured bills first is that it is much more likely that they can take the secured property and probably will unless payment is made. While credit cards companies are notorious for their threats, they very seldom follow through. I'm not saying not to pay them, just that they aren't as high a priority as your secured bills. Next would be your savings. I really to hate to list savings as your last priority because having a savings can prevent the use of those dreaded credit cards and help in so many ways. If you have the money to cover all of your other priorities then you should always put savings at the top of the list. However, if you don't have enough money to cover your bills and expenses then your savings will have to be the first to go. Just to recap. The below list is an example of what your financial priorities should look like: 1. Groceries and Necessary Health Items 2. Housing (Rent or House Payment) 3. Utilities 4. Transportation 5. Secured Bills 6. Unsecured Bills 7. Savings Let's hope that you never get in the position to have to decide which of the above list will have to wait. But if you do, following the above priorities is absolutely necessary to ensure your survival. Wedding Dress Basics
by clemie - Thursday, 12 June 2008, 08:22 PM
Anyone in the world

By Julia Tweed Most brides say that the selection of their wedding dress was the most enjoyable part of the wedding planning process. Many women love to shop, and even if you don't, who can deny that trying on beautiful gowns makes them feel special. Before you begin to shop for your wedding dress, however, you need to consider the following: 1) Your budget. How much money did you set aside for your wedding dress? Remember to take into consideration the cost of the accessories such as the veil, jewelry, tiara, shoes, undergarments, garter, etc. The dress doesn't have to be expensive to be beautiful. You should, however, make certain that the dress you buy is of good quality. 2) Your style of wedding. Will you have an indoor or outdoor wedding? Will it be formal, informal, theme, religious? What time of year are you getting married? Take the season and what the weather will be like into consideration when selecting the gown. You need to tie your "look" into the style and setting of your wedding. 3) Is there a dress code? If you are planning a religious wedding or a wedding in a house of worship, make certain that you know what they feel is appropriate attire. When you actually begin shopping, allow yourself plenty of time. You don't want to feel rushed or pressured while shopping. It will help to look through bridal magazines, or do some research on the internet before you shop. Learn the lingo so you can better communicate with the sales associate and gather ideas about what style of gown you would like to look at. You must, however, go into the shopping experience with an open mind. Try on many different styles to determine what looks best on your body type. Also try on different colored gowns (white, ivory, champaign) to choose the best shade to complement your skin tone. Give yourself options and time to think by shopping other places before you buy. Don't buy the first dress you like. By visiting several bridal shops before you buy you are making certain you are getting the best price for your gown and you are also getting a better look at the selections available to you. Listen to the sales associate and get her opinion. She is an expert and she can advise you on the appropriate style for you, however, the decision is yours and yours alone. Trust your instincts, if you need to be convinced that it's the dress for you, then it isn't. You will know when you have found the right dress based on how it makes you feel. You should feel comfortable in the gown and it should fit you correctly. The dress should make you feel like a million bucks. The bride in her wedding dress is the center of the entire wedding ceremony. If you feel beautiful in your wedding dress it will show through in your smile and you will indeed be beautiful on your wedding day. This article was written by Julia Tweed. Bait Doesn't Catch Fish - Hooks Do
by clemie - Wednesday, 4 June 2008, 09:00 AM
Anyone in the world

By Trevor Kugler This may sound like a completely stupid title for an article, but hear me out. Many anglers take their hooks for granted as a part of their fishing. They assume that as long as they're using the popular bait, or the bait that has worked in the past, they will catch fish. While it may be true that fish can be caught with blatant disregard for something as simple as hooks, large and/or experienced fish cannot. If a fish is large, it got that way for a reason. Because the fish has been around awhile. And fish that have been around awhile have not only seen anglers offerings before, they have probably been caught and released before. Therefore they become more difficult to fool into biting. If you've spent any time on the water you know this fact to be true. That larger fish have not only been around longer, but have also become wiser. This is especially true in small rivers, where fish don't have hundreds of square miles to swim free in, such as is found in lakes. So how do we go about enticing these larger fish to bite our offering? The best way that I've ever seen is by employing a set of gang hooks. What are gang hooks? They are simply two small hooks tied in tandem. And when I say small hooks, I mean small hooks. I personally use size 10 hooks. But with a set of size 10 gang hooks tied on four-pound test monofilament, I've caught trout and small mouth bass in the five to six pound class. And why do I catch fish this big with hooks so small? Because the fish don't realize there are hooks in the bait. You see, gang hooks are the best way to present bait naturally. When your bait is in the water it looks completely natural. Your bait looks exactly like it does normally. For example, a worm hooked on size 10 gang hooks looks exactly the same as a worm without any hooks in it at all. Needless to say, this is a huge advantage to the angler. The above reasons are why this article is titled "bait doesn't catch fish, hooks do", because while bait might help catch the attention of the fish, the hooks are what actually catches said fish. Start using gang hooks and you will begin catching more fish, It's as simple as that. Trevor Kugler is co-founder of JRWfishing.com and an avid angler. Is Hoodia all Hooey?
by clemie - Friday, 30 May 2008, 07:57 PM
Anyone in the world

By Peter Somerville If you are like me the BS detectors go off when you see the words diet and pill anywhere near each other. Weight loss is a straight mathematical proposition. If you consume more calories than you burn - you gain weight. If you consume fewer calories than you burn - you lose weight. Weight loss works as certain as the laws of gravity. No exceptions. The chance of waking up in the morning to discover that pounds of fat have flown off your body is as likely as finding your car on the roof of the nearest building. So forgive my skepticism when a friend emailed me a BBC article (BBC. Tom Mangold. May 30, 2003) about a "Kalahari cactus diet." I read it. I did a little more research. I'm convinced! Even starving people don't eat themselves to death because within the hypothalamus there are nerve cells that sense glucose sugar. Food consumption puts sugar into the blood stream. The sugar converts to glucose. The hypothalamus senses the change in glucose and eventually tells your brain that immediate survival is assured and that it's OK to stop eating. Well, this Kalahari cactus, called hoodia, has a molecule which scientists have named p.57 that is about 10,000 times more active than glucose. That means that hoodia fires those glucose sugar nerve cells which makes your brain think you are full. You may not have eaten anything at all. And now you don't even want to. Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes (CBS) traveled to the Kalahari to do a piece on hoodia. Stahl tried it. Said it tasted like cucumber and, most importantly, did not have any desire to eat or drink for the rest of the day. There were no after effects or side effects either. Big pharma has jumped on this and maybe some day they will be able to synthesize p.57. But for now Mother Nature has not given up her secrets and the only way to benefit from what the BBC call "an organic pill that kills the appetite and attacks obesity" is to get natural hoodia from the Kalahari. There are plans to farm the plant but nobody knows for sure if commercially grown hoodia will have the same properties as the wild plant. Apparently not all hoodia is equal. Only Hoodia gordonii has p.57. Other Kalahari cactus plants are...cactus. The US government and the South African government regulate the importation and harvesting of Hoodia gordonii. Only companies licensed by the Western Cape Conservation Authority of South Africa, and who have the Certificates to prove it, are selling the genuine article. As you would expect with something this valuable there are lots of exploiters so that Certificate of authenticity is important. For populations where obesity is a legitimate national health concern, a natural, safe and effective appetite suppressant can't be anything other than a good thing. You have to wonder about the longevity of the supply however. For individual use there are other considerations. Your body needs a daily supply of protein and other nutrients to function normally and to stay healthy. Is Hoodia gordonii so powerful that you won't eat even the minimal amounts? Or drink a healthy volume of water? C) 2005 by Peter Somerville. Peter is a former military officer, and the creator of The Paratrooper's Guide To Fitness and Weight Loss. 10 Reasons Why You Need A Marketing Plan
by clemie - Wednesday, 28 May 2008, 07:09 AM
Anyone in the world

By Andrew Witherspoon If you are in business you need a marketing plan. General reasons for this conclusion are that. A marketing plan can help you to achieve a unified and practical approach to your business goals.
A marketing plan will help you to identify the key business points you need to develop in order to influence your customers.
A marketing plan should be able to assist you in focusing on what your real marketing budget will look like.
A marketing plan can help you to apply reality based learning to achieve profit. Ten of the most common and more specific reasons for why you need a marketing plan are as follows. 1. Your targeted customers may not be hearing the message that you are currently sending.
You are always sending a message whether you believe it or not. Silence speaks volumes in respect to what you think about your product or service. Your marketing plan can help you develop your voice and your message. You can join online forums and focus groups to get an idea of the type of message you should be sending based on what your target customers are saying they want to hear. 2. If you arent sending you customers the message that they want to hear you can be sure that someone else is.
You may have a better product than your competition but if no one knows about it no one will buy it. A marketing plan will help you devise ways to make your message stand out above the shouting of your competitors messages. Look around to see what your competition is doing and do them one better. Upgrade and upscale your message to be better and louder than theirs. 3. The customer is always right.
Developing a marketing plan will help keep you in the mindset of a customer and not a seller. You have to always try to see from the customers point of view to know what they want in order to know what to pitch and how to pitch it. You should get in the constant habit of surveying your customers and potential customers to see what the current trend is for them. Dont depend on how you feel about your product or service alone, what matters is what the customer thinks and feels. They are always right generally speaking because they are the hands that feed your business. 4. You need a marketing plan to be able to plan and execute the plan.
Without a plan you are working blindly in the dark. Customer strategy planning takes effort and research that will be reflected in how you put together a working plan of action. Doing business on the fly is a rookie mistake that hopefully you will learn from and pull out of if you choose this route. Your business is your life, plan it carefully every step of the way. 5. The more you give the more you get.
A well thought out marketing plan will not only be made to benefit your business but your customers as well. Your plan should intrinsically be set to the customers needs. Remember, you are there to service them and as a byproduct you get paid. If your focus ever shifts from giving to getting your customers will realize this and their loyalty and patronage will shift to your competition. 6. Being better is better than being good.
While you may have a great product and good PR, a well planned, thought out and researched marketing plan that is well implemented will put you in a league of your own. Such a plan will make your business and product soar above the crowd. No longer will your product or business be, okay, it will be fantastic! 7. If you dont succeed your dead.
The whole purpose of going into to business is to create a symbiotic relationship with your potential customers. You sell what they need and they pay you for it. Simple, right? Not really. There are many factors involved in gearing a product campaign up for marketing. Without out proper planning, that you will get in a marketing plan, you will not have much success. No success means failure and failure means the end of your business or product life. 8. Marketing is structured creativity.
Marketing your product or service will be the most creative part of your business. Attempting to please the maximum amount of consumers to achieve the maximum business benefits takes thinking outside of the box. Not unlike being an artists, a good marketer has to be innovative and cutting edge without giving up structure and planning. A marketing plan can help you be structured but how creative you are with it is up to you. Each campaign you design will be and should be different from the last, even if you are selling the same product or service. 9. Marketing is structured logic.
Viewing a plan on paper or other media gives you the ability to see the structure and the logical flow of what you are attempting. This is a very important if not the most important aspect of why any business should have a marketing plan. Any one can think up a plan of action, but will they see the big picture? If so will the big picture make sense. A marketing plan provides insight into the end result of what you are trying to achieve and may show alternatives and logical links that you may not have foreseen without a plan. No matter how much fun you may have with your business, it still has to be orderly and organized. 10. The world is a market.
Just about everything deals with marketing in one aspect or another. When you apply for a job, your resume is you marketing plan because you are marketing yourself. Your personality is a marketing tool when you are meeting and networking with people. You market your morals and values to everyone in your sphere of influence by showing people what you stand for and who you are. Marketing is a key factor of human interaction. It is part of the rules of the game that you should learn to play well if you intend to survive and reach your goals. Lead Generation System Secrets of a Lead Generation Coach - Part 2
by clemie - Wednesday, 21 May 2008, 05:44 PM
Anyone in the world

By Fraser Hay A Lead Generation System can be split in 5 key areas 1. Set your objectives
2. Allocate your time and budget
3. Select your marketing approach
4. Test
5. Evaluate 1. Setting Objectives. The first part of creating your Lead Generation System is to set your objectives. One of the best ways to decide upon what your objectives are going to be, is to do a marketing audit, to identify what has already worked, what hasn't worked, what your marketing achievements have been, identify your disappointments, what you've learned, and what you are going to do differently over the next 12 months. 2. Allocating your time and budget. The next part of your lead generation system is to decide on a budget and schedule that you dedicate to your marketing. Many people tend to view marketing as an expense instead of an investment, and most businesses know how many sales they need, but very few actually know how many leads they need. Ironically, this is what they're marketing is spent on - generating leads. There is a very useful formula for working this out - a) What income do you require per week
b) What is the profit per sale/transaction you offer
c) Divide a) by b) to give you the number of sales you need
d) Decide on what your closing ratio has been and is (e.g. 1:2, 1:5, 1:10)
e) Multiply c) by d) to determine the number of leads you need
f) You will know how much available marketing spend you have, so simply divide that by e)
to determine how much per lead you can sensibly afford to spend. 3. Selecting a marketing approach Your Lead Generation System can utilise a number of methods for generating leads. So the question is. Which approach do you use first? The answer is revealed in part 1 of the process - do what has worked previously for you. If however cashflow is good, and you have calculated your available budget and schedule using the very simple formula outlined in part 2. You may wish to test one or two new approaches on a limited basis, before deciding on which method to "roll out". 4. Testing Many people have a lead generation system that utilises just one marketing approachwhat happens if that channel, tactic, or strategy fails for whatever reason? They have to try a new approach. (Even "Networking" as a channel has lots and lots of indirect and hidden marketing costs that people tend to forget about - train fares, tube fares, taxis, coffees (Lates, mocha and espressos which ever one you choose) , lunches, Beer, chardonnay...it all adds up and drains your cashflow. ) How cost effective (and successful) is your current marketing strategy? There are 3 fundamental errors people tend to make when testing a new marketing approach. They focus on what they OFFER the client. They focus on what they DO for the client They focus on THEMSELVES - not the client. Whichever Marketing approach you test, ensure you rigidly stick to this simple formula - a) Identify your target market and audience - and build a prospective client "profile"
b) Ensure you have a list of client problems that you know you can address
c) Ensure you know your product or solution that you are offering your clients
d) Have a clearly defined pricing strategy to help your casfhlow whilst the bigger deals take time to "land" and "close"
e) Have a well articulated message for your target audience that highlights b) and c) above.
f) Ensure you have implemented 2) in your Lead Generation System before you begin testing.
g) Decide on a marketing tactic - and try it, ideally for a period of 4, 8 or 12 weeks. 5. Evaluating your Lead Generation System Remember part 1 - your objectives? Use these as your Key Performance Indicators or mile stones to monitor the effectiveness of your lead generation system and marketing campaign. Here are some indicators you could use to monitor the effectiveness of the system - No, of new ezine subscribers No. of new signups or downloads for your FREE "teaser" offer No, of words or square centimetre columns (scc) coverage you got in the press No of Appointments No. of business cards collected No. of referrals No. of affiliate signups No. of qualified sales leads No. of sales Determine which of the marketing approaches you are using is generating the most progress and business for you. If you are continually using a strategy that Is ineffective - drop it, and test a new approach. Remember, in a condition of need, when you're short of new business, it is hard to hide that, and when you're "needy" that feeling of neediness, even desperation is apparent, because you are preoccupied with you, and your focus is on you and you tend to talk about what you HAVE, what you can DO, not what the client GETS or NEEDS. Your prospective clients are preoccupied with themselves, and their problems too, that's why it's important your lead generation system is set up correctly so that it isn't YOU focused and it is client focused. Setting up a Lead Generation System can and does take time, but once created, can run like a well oiled engine, if the process above is followed. Many self employed service providers who don't have a lead generation system in place for their business very quickly believe that marketing is a waste of time and even begin to doubt whether self employment is actually for them. A Lead Generation System can and does work, but you have to start thinking differently and then taking consistent action with your new thinking. This new approach can be place you out of your comfort zone, can be perceived as HARD WORK, even frustrating on occasion - but it can pay enormous dividends, and even increase the Life time value of a client by as much as 100 - 500%. So, stop pushing people away, start attracting new prospective clients in their masses because you have something they want - the promise of a solution that works. Hope this helps. A Sane, Satisfying Working Life: How You Lost It And How To Get It Back
by clemie - Monday, 19 May 2008, 12:46 PM
Anyone in the world

By Patricia Soldati Corporate life is a nasty oxymoron. Jam-packed days, endless demands to do more with less, impossible goals, rally the troops, jump on a plane. Miss your kids birthday. You know these painful facts all too well. An existence? Yes. A path to a paycheck? Certainly. But, a life? A well-balanced, appropriately challenged life? No way. Is it any wonder that you are filled with dreams of escape? Youre not alone. Recent Conference Board surveys reveal that: 40% of employees feel disconnected from their employers Two-thirds of American workers do not feel motivated to drive their employers business goals 25% of employees are just showing up for a paycheck These surveys validate the Gallup Employee Engagement Index Poll which finds that a majority, or 54% of workers are not engaged with the objectives of their organization. Even worse, 17% of employees are considered actively disengaged -- to the point of undermining what their engaged co-workers accomplish. Why, then, do so many professionals stay in jobs they dislike so intensely? The obvious answer is the pay and the perks. But the real reasons go deeper, and involve the dynamics of fear, procrastination and the challenge of finding the voice that shouts I deserve better! Underneath The Pay And Perks In our Western culture, we learn early to conformto fit into color inside the lines. Not that this is always bad, but it holds up the larger group as the ideal, and ignores ones personal style and values -- which lie at the heart of being fulfilled in work and life. This conformity is re-enforced as were urged to get a steady job. Were rewarded for being a team player, and by default, to feel a little guilty if we exhibit behavior that serves our own desires. Before you know it, the familiarity of co-workers and routine creates a warped kind of comfort zone that causes you to suck it up day after day. After all, pain often feels better than S-C-A-R-E-Y old change. Pretty soon, blaming the corporation becomes a way of life. Its satisfying to be right, to join your colleagues in those misery-loves-company, finger-pointing moments. There is an endless stock pile of urgent workand not every manager is a gifted leader. While venting has some value, this is a good example of what psychologists call learned helplessness on the part of employees who feel powerless to make even small changes to improve their working lives. Finally, theres the sobering How do I begin to fix this? challenge. Like the deer in headlights, there seem to be many directions to move. How do I choose? What are the consequences? How long will it take? Not knowing these answers is one more reason for stoically marching in place. Its a rough pickle. But the answer doesnt lie in settling for more of the same. Fulfillment requires a shift in perception that shouts I deserve better! And the conviction that it is entirely permissible to go after what you want. How To Save Your Soul Unfortunately, no magic formula can deliver an ideal working life. The answer is different for each of you. To explore that answer, follow these simple steps: 1. Separate the notion of exploring your options from acting on them. This will remove the fear factor and allow you to more fully explore and evaluate all of your options. 2. On a regular basis, give yourself quiet time to think about your working life. 15 or 30 minutes per weekwhile youre commuting or at the gym. Consider what is and is not working. Be as specific as possible. 3. Mentally play with what a more fulfilling work life might look like: Staying where you are and making boundary or relationship changes? Finding similar work in an organization that more closely mirrors your style and values? A more significant career change? 4. Work with a career coach or mentor someone who understands both the realities of the corporate world and the possibilities around career fulfillment. Feedback and dialogue will help you clarify your goals and generate a broader set of options in a shorter time. 5. Clarify and visualize what you hope to gain as a result of any changes you make. If your gain is not greater than the pain of staying the same, you will not progress. 6. When you are ready, move from thinking into action. Set clear, specific goals and slowly integrate the changes you make. If you struggle with moving into action, ask What is in the way? and How can I move beyond this obstacle? 7. Inspire yourself with daily readings and by surrounding yourself with positive people who take responsibility for their lives; avoid complainers and other negative influences. There are many ways to improve your working life -- and all of them are rooted in your willingness to grant a small bit of magnificence to your life and shout Im worth it! All by itself, your decision to explore is empowering and, potentially, life-changing. By KG Stiles Clary Sage (Salvea Sclerea) - An especially inviting, softly floral and sweet oil! Clary Sage can have a deeply soothing effect on nervous tension in both men and women. Clary Sage is well known for having a natural affinity with the female reproductive organs and is especially helpful for release of premenstrual and menopausal tension in women. Clary Sage has a balancing effect on hormones and a reputation for easing painful contractions during labor and birth. Traditionally it has been added to Geranium to help regulate and relieve female complaints associated with hormonal imbalance, such as irregular menses and menopausal symptoms, including headache, nausea, tearfulness, moodiness, bloating, indigestion and depression. Clary Sage also has a balancing effect upon circulation and aids circulatory problems like high blood pressure and varicose veins. For some people Clary Sage has an especially hypnotic effect on the mind and emotions producing exceedingly tranquil and peaceful states. It is especially helpful for relieving stressful or tense physical and emotional states of mind. AROMATIC BLENDS: Geranium, Petitgrain, Lavender, Bergamot, Atlas and Himalayan Cedarwood, Chamomile, Frankincense, Sandalwood and Vetiver. Because of its hormonal effect avoid during pregnancy, or when nursing. Due to its estrogen-like effect it may cause complications with conditions sensitive to estrogen. By Danielle Sims The Legendary Queen of Egypt was known for her exquisite complexion. One of her secret beauty treatments, the milk and honey bath are still being used today. One of the main ingredients, Milk, contains lactic acid, which helps to exfoliate your skin. The lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxy acid, which helps to cleanse the deepest layers of the skin. Honey has an abundance of health properties. First of all, it is composed of sugars like glucose and fructose so it is also a gentle alpha hydroxy acid. Its made up of both minerals and vitamins to help nourish and heal the skin. Since it also contains phytochemicals that kill viruses, bacteria, and fungus, its has a natural anti-inflammatory effect which heals wounds quickly. This makes honey a good substitute for wound dressings. Here are a couple of ways to enjoy these 2 main ingredients found in her ancient beauty secrets. Cleopatra Honey & Milk Bath Ingredients
1/2 Cup Powdered Milk
1/2 Cup Raw Honey
2 teaspoon Jojoba Oil (optional) Mix ingredients in a large bowl and pour your warm bath. Soak for up to 20 minutes to infuse these beneficial ingredients in your skin. This recipe makes enough for one bath. Milk & Honey Rinse for Wrinkled Skin Ingredients
1 oz raw honey
1 Cup skim milk
2 teaspoons aloe vera gel Combine Ingredients in a jar and shake well. Apply to your face morning and evening with a cotton ball. Store mixture in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Incorporating these beauty recipes in your daily regime will help you to experience healthy, vibrant, and ageless skin. Danielle Sims explored her library of alternative health, herbal books, and aromatherapy books and created a blueprint for making her own body wrap formulas at home.
