Anyone in the world By Claudia Budu The selectively permeable skin barrier is the top most layer of the skin (so called dead skin layer), which has a tremendous role in protection against dehydration and variable environmental changes. This layer contains cells without nuclei comprised of keratin filaments sank in a lipid milieu of free cholesterol, cholesterol ionic (sulfate cholesterol), ceramide, and other free fatty acids. The role of each of the constituents of this layer is still an open question. One thing is certain! Any modification in the skin barriers equilibrium may trigger different skin conditions such a dryness, itchiness or dermatitis. Preservation of the qualities of the skin barrier became a necessity these days when we encounter so many pollution sources around us.In order to maintain a healthy and active skin barrier you should moisturize your skin on a daily basis. There are many important qualities that a moisturizer has to achieve in order to protect the skin barrier. One of the important qualities of a moisturizer is to bring moisture and keep it there. For this purpose every moisturizer has to contain humectants, preferable natural, such as vegetable glycerin. The glycerin can attract water and trigger the elasticity of the skin. Fatty acids on the other hand, have a major role in retaining the moisture in. However, a high concentration of fatty acids without any humectant in a skin care formulation increases the sensitivity of the skin barrier to different chemicals. For example sodium lauryl sulfate, one of the major ingredient in synthetic cleansers can easily penetrate the skin barrier in the above conditions, leading to cell damage. To strengthen the barrier function some fatty acids are more important than other. For example linoleic and gamma linoleic acids, induce the biosynthesis of ceramide , a skin barrier constituent , which improves radically the barrier function. Another quality for a well formulated moisturizer is sunscreen protection. Antioxidants such as vitamin C, Vitamin E or Coenzyme Q have an important role in UV protection. However for a photoaging damaged skin these only ingredients are not sufficient to stop or reverse the aging process. Vitamin A is also required to enhance the biosynthesis of the new skin cells. On the other hand too high concentration of vitamin A can induce wrinkles. To activate the skin barrier process of regeneration the most upper layer of the cells has to be removed periodically. The removal of the cells can be rapidly obtained by peeling procedure. The stronger the peeling procedure you choose the longer time is needed for the skin barrier to regenerate. By using mild peeling procedure the removal of the cells is limited to some extent to those cells ready to be shed. In this case, the regeneration is naturally occurred, is not induced or forced, this keeping the upper skin layer protected. In conclusion: Dont rush for a moisturizer, which claims to contain one extraordinary active ingredient! One or even two active ingredients are not enough to provide a healthy skin and protective skin barrier. The active ingredients have to be as many as they can maintain all the skin needs for hydration, regeneration, rejuvenation and protection. The potential active ingredients have to interact with each other in a complete synergy to provide the maximum strengths and a high quality skin care product. Dont rush for an extreme peeling alternative. Look for a less aggressive, more natural way of improving your skin and strengthening your skins barrier function. After all, your skin has to be prepared not for a moment of nice pretence, it has to remain healthy for your entire life. Claudia Budu has a master in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in cell biology. Anyone in the world By B. Williams You come home from work after a long day, sink into the tub for a moment of reprieve and just as your muscles begin to relax the phone rings. You dash out and grab it on the last ring only to be greeted by a telemarketer who mispronounces your last name. Surely most every American has had their bath, dinner, favorite movie moment or (you fill in the blank) interrupted by a telemarketing call, and if you're like most Americans it's an everyday occurrence. While you may not give in to telemarketing sales pitches, many do. In 2002, the telemarketing industry brought in over $11 billion in revenue, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This is a huge profit by any standard, but when you consider that it comes from only 3,245 U.S. telemarketing bureaus it becomes clear just how massive an industry telemarketing calls have become. Every year, telemarketers make some 8 billion calls, which worked out to about 100 per household in 2002. They do have some restrictions-Federal law prohibits telephone solicitations before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m., and when they do call telemarketers must provide their name, the company for which they work and a phone number. As though sales calls aren't bad enough at home, complaints of telemarketers targeting cell phones are increasing-and in this case it's not just a waste of your time because you're the one paying for the air time. Though federal law does prohibit telemarketing calls using an automated dialing service to cell phones, it doesn't prohibit direct calls and many do get through. If you want to dramatically reduce the number of telemarketing calls you receive, there are several actions you can take. 1. The National Do Not Call Registry The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) created a national registry of phone numbers that are blocked from non-exempt telemarketers. Over 60 million phone numbers have been added to the Do Not Call Registry since its launch. The Registry is one of your best bets to reducing telemarketing calls: 92 percent of people who used the Registry said they are receiving "fewer calls" and 78 percent said they're getting "far fewer calls" or none at all, according to a Harris Interactive poll, There are two ways to add your number to the list: 1. Online at www.DONOTCALL.gov 2. By calling 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236) from the number you want to register Note: Certain telemarketers are exempt and may still call numbers on the Registry. These include charities, politicians, telephone surveyors and businesses that have a prior relationship with the person they're calling (banks, airlines, phone-service providers, etc.). Businesses that you've given permission to call are also exempt. How to File Complaints If your number has been on the Registry for at least three months and you receive a call from a non-exempt telemarketer you can file a complaint with the FTC. To do so visit www.DONOTCALL.gov or call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY1-866-290-4236) and have the date of the call and the phone number or name of the company who called you ready. 2. Ask Telemarketers to Take Your Name off Their List When a telemarketer does call, ask them to remove your name and number from their list. They are required to add your number to their own "do-not-call" list and keep it there for 10 years. If your number has been on the Do Not Call Registry for over three months and the company is not exempt, you may also want to file a complaint (see above) with the FTC. 3. Keep Your Phone Number Unlisted There is typically a monthly fee to keep your telephone number unlisted, which means it won't be listed in the local telephone directory nor will it be available through Directory Assitance (411) or telephone operators (0). This will cut back on the number of people and companies that have access to your number, however, according to the Federal Communications Commission, there are no laws against the collection of unlisted telephone numbers, and in some cases unlisted numbers can still be obtained from a directory assistance operator. They may also be sold to other organizations or people with whom you have done business in the past. In fact, industry experts say that one way marketers gain access to unlisted numbers is from the customers giving out their numbers themselves, via surveys, product registration cards and credit card applications. The numbers are also gathered from public records like property data. Anti-Telemarketing Script Here's what to say when telemarketers call you. Just follow the script if you don't want any more junk calls: 1. Are you calling to sell something? or Is this a telemarketing call?' 2. Could you tell me your full name please? 3. And a phone number, area code first? 4. What's the name of the organization you're calling for? 5. Does that organization keep a list of numbers it's been asked not to call? 6. I would like my number (s) put on that list. Can you take care of that now? 7. And does the company you work for also make telemarketing calls for any other organizations? (If they answer no, skip the next question.) 8. (If yes) Can you make sure your company won't call me for any other organization? 9. Is it clear that I never want telemarketing calls from anyone? 10. Will your company keep my number on its do-not-call list for at least 10 years? 11. And does your company have a written policy that says that on paper? 12. Can you send me a copy of it? 13. What's your supervisor's first and last name? 14. What's your employer's business name, address and main telephone number? 15. Are you calling for a tax-exempt nonprofit organization? 16. Is this call based on a previously established business relationship? You may need to ask to speak with a supervisor if they can't answer your questions. Before hanging up, check that you have all their answers written down, then say goodbye. Add the date and time to your record. (Is it between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., when such calls are prohibited?) Anyone in the world By Shaun Breen Hoodia Gordonii a cactus plant found thousands of miles away in the Cape Town of South Africa, has become incredibly beneficial for people all over the world. Centuries ago, the simple tribal folk of South Africa cultivated the plant so that they could chew it and satiate hunger and thirst for three to four days. Hoodia is a typical arid plant with no leaves. In fact, the leaves are reduced to spikes to avoid the loss of water from the surface. It is succulent or juicy in nature. In appearance, it is quite unusual with around ten tentacles. The size is small not more than three-fourth of a foot and it is covered with spikes. The fertile ground of Hoodia cacti are the partial deserts of Botswana, Angola, South Africa and Namibia. There are twenty different species of this family but not all serve the same purpose. The credit of an appetite suppressant exclusively belongs to Hoodia Gordonii. Things have changed with the time and so is the lifestyle and eating habit. While the modern technology has devised new means to provide us ease and comfort, it has given rise to certain problems as well. Manual work has been replaced and machines have taken their place. As a result, energy consumption at large rate has been reduced which is essential to burn the extra calories. Hence, obesity among people of different age group is rising at an alarming rate. In such a situation, the rediscovery of the beneficial effects of the cactus plant Hoodia is a timely bliss. The intake of Hoodia minimizes hunger. Now a vital question arises that, if the food intake is reduced considerably does it have a harmful effect on the body? After all, food is the main source of energy needed by the body to function properly. It is quite astonishing to note that the body does not undergo any ill effect even if it does not take food. This is where Hoodia scores over all other diet- reducing drugs. It has an ingredient called p57, which works, similar to glucose. P57 triggers the hypothalamus of the brain and tricks the brain in believing that the stomach is full. Unlike glucose, it does not release calories and saves the body from putting on extra weight without even feeling feeble. One more characteristic of Hoodia is that it acts as a mood enhancer. When we are charged up with energy and slimming day by day, the greatest impact is on the psyche. It will generate a positive approach and a bubbling with life attitude, with no lumps of fat bumping on your plans. Apart from this, it has a typical scientific mood enhancing quality, which makes it tremendously beneficial. Thus, with a new medicinal revolution brought about by this wonder drug obesity will no more be an unsolved problem and in times to come, the widespread use of Hoodia Gordonii may entirely, remove the word obesity from the pages of medical dictionary. Anyone in the world By Amy Spade After watching the happy couple exchange vows and begin their married life together, your guests will be hungry. Many of the guests may have scaled back on eating in order to look good for pictures or just because they were so busy during the day. So feed them right. Different needs When youre putting together such a large assortment of people, there are bound to be those that have certain ways or preferences of eating. You may find that there are vegetarians or those that can not eat dairy. You might have a diabetic in the crowd or some other health restriction. Do you have to make arrangements for everyone? You should certainly try to have options for any sort of eating arrangement. In the case of those that dont eat meat, you might want to have a cheese lasagne available or other pasta dish. This is becoming widely popular to have two options anyways, so why not offer them? Another way to cope with varied needs is to serve dinner in a buffet style. This allows each person to pick only what they want or what they can eat. How to find good food A lot of wedding caterers rely on word of mouth (no pun intended) to get their services recognized. If you can, talk to other people that have gotten married in your town to see who they recommend. Of course, you will still want to see them for yourself, but this list can be a great starting point. Another way to find good catering is to talk to the reception hall coordinators. Many times they will either require the use of a particular caterer or they have a list of those that they recommend. Of course, you will want to schedule an appointment with all of the catering candidates in order to do a taste test of their menu options. At that point, you can pick what you think your guests will enjoy. A good meal is a great way to send your thanks to your guests for coming to your wedding. This is the part that shouldnt be skimped on for any reason. Of course, that doesnt mean that you cant find moderately priced options. Try your favourite restaurant, for example. If theyre able to cater, then you may be able to get a better deal because youre buying food in bulk. Having a friend who is a cook is even betterso long as they dont mind working through the wedding. Amy Spade is an expert on planning weddings, and she has written an amazing totally free minicourse on how to make sure that you have the day of your dreams and avoid wedding day disaster!

Anyone in the world By Emma Snow One of the greatest experiences of being human is to be out in nature. There is just something about being in the fresh open air of the wilderness that makes a person feel more alive, more grounded. The stresses and responsibilities of life lessen in the great outdoors and it is less complicated. After a long day hiking or on the river even if exhaustion is felt, it is refreshing and invigorating. Along with the hard work comes a hearty appetite and a good meal is welcomed by everyone. Even food tastes better when enjoyed in nature and it is received with enthusiastic appreciation. The supper that is tasty is all the more satisfying. A cook can really get rave reviews at a camp. If some thought and a little preparation are made a great meal can be enjoyed and increase the quality of the outdoor experience. Here are some suggestions. The first thing to note is that all three meals are not created equal. Breakfast and dinner are the meals that more time is put in. The first meal should be filling, one that will stay with you all day. Whole grains probably fit this requirement the best. Even if you are not normally a cook, camping is a good place to be willing to put in some effort and time. With all the energy burned you will truly appreciate a meal that will fill you up and keep you going. Oatmeal is the first option. For those who want something hot, with little effort, oatmeal fits the bill. It will "stick to your ribs" and keep you full longer, but this breakfast seems to be a popular one on trips and because of that it gets a little old. If that is all the further you want to go in your culinary efforts you can still spruce it up a little. Add dried fruit into the mix. Raisins seem to be the old stand by, but there is a plethora of other choices. Any fruit is an option. Try mangos, apples, strawberries etc. and a little dry milk mixed in. Your regular old oatmeal just turned into fruit and cream, much more satisfying. If you are a little more adventurous pull out the pan for your camp stove. Whole wheat pancakes with freeze dried fruit are amazing. Even syrup is not necessary for these delicious creations. They will be the hit of the camp so be sure to bring plenty. When planning pancakes bring oil in a spill proof container and pour a little into the pan before each cake (about 1 tsp). A non-stick pan is also recommended for pancakes. These cakes are filling and delicious. Freeze dried fruit is recommended over dried for pancakes because they hydrate as they cook and return to a fresh-like berries rather then staying chewy in your pancakes like dried ones would. Prepackaged meals are fine camping, but you can make your own. Not only will it be cheaper, but it will last for many trips (and even at home). Large cans (#10 size) can be purchased of the berry you prefer. Mix up the pancake's dry ingredients at home (including dry milk and dry eggs) then all you have to add is water when you cook them at camp. During the day when you are on the river you probably do not want to pull off and unpack all the gear for lunch. This is a good time to have trial mix, granola bars and jerky. Dinner is another time that it is worth putting in the effort. Meals in the can are not recommended frequently while camping because of the trash it creates. What gets brought in, gets brought out. Instead try a box of pasta with dry packs of sauce and then add a can of tuna or chicken. Dried vegetables added to this meal would be delicious. Just rehydrate them in a little water for 10 minutes or so before cooking and you have an entire dinner in one dish. A few last notes to make. Do not pack you fuel in the dry bags with your food. If the fuel leaks, the food will not be good. If you are going to make something new on your trip, try it at home first. Better to learn when you have more food to try again. Instead of bringing trash bags bring plastic grocery bags with you. They are smaller and even if you use a couple, because of their size, they can be stuff in corners easily. Another suggestions about these plastic bags is that it is easy to double up on them for your trash to prevents leaks and such. Do not sacrifice food on your trip, make it delicious and you will enjoy the outdoors even more. Emma Snow is a gourmet and freelance writer. Anyone in the world By Jennifer Oikle In the beginning of your relationship, "we'ness" probably ran rampant. We this, we that. No doubt, you felt connected and functioned as a team- each supporting the other. In fact, that's happy couples biggest secret- they maintain Team morale long after the glow fades. Problem is, once daily life gets in the way, it's easy to end up on opposite teams- blaming each other and feeling like you're working toward different goals- rather than working together. So what's the key to rediscovering Teamwork? Take a hint from your favorite sports team to remind yourself of the basics: Name and Mascot: How do you know someone's a Bronco's fan? It's easy- they wear Bronco's colors, display their emblems, and cheer Go Bronco's! Well, your team is no different. You need a way to reinforce your we'ness and show yourselves, if not the world, that you are behind each other 100%. So be creative ...decide what your team stands for and have a name or idea that evokes that for you. Or, have a ritual that signifies your we-ness. Be unique and let your imaginations run wild. The exercise itself will bring your closer together- now and in the future. Purpose: Every team has a purpose and successful teams never lose sight of the main goal. While you and your partner's purpose may not be to score as many touchdowns as possible- your union does serve an important purpose. And every couple is different. Sit down and remind yourselves: what is your biggest purpose? Why are you together? Meeting: Find a way to keep that purpose front and center- for sports teams, they have meetings. How else would they keep in touch, check progress on their goals, and plan their next moves to stay on track? Your team should have regular meetings too! Once a week or at least once a month, schedule a couple or family meeting to address your progress toward key goals and keep communication clear. Leadership: Every successful team has wise leaders guiding the way. In this case- you both need to be leaders- ones who know how to compromise. It's important that each member of the couple is allowed to lead in the areas where you are strong. Power needs to be shared and rotated. If you end up with too many power struggles- your team will lose. Practice: No Team wins without practicing essential skills. Relationships are no different! If you are weak in important relationship skills- you're team is going to flounder. It takes a lifetime to learn excellent communication, conflict resolution, sharing, intimacy, cooperation, etc skills. Keep sharpening your repertoire! Coaching: Lastly, no one is successful alone. Even top competitors in all fields make use of coaches- you simply need an objective view sometimes. So, read relationship books, make use of online information sources, create a couples support group, or when needed, seek outside assistance. So what's your teamwork level? Feeling like you are on opposing sides of a losing argument? Than it's time to boost your team work skills! Review the above factors and decide which aspects of teamwork your team needs to focus on to start winning again! When you and your partner are working together on the same Team, love always wins! Anyone in the world By Ian Wharmby Psychotherapy
Psychology is the study of human behaviour. It seeks to look at the motivational drives within an individual and offer an explanation to the behaviour that is demonstrated. Psychotherapy is the use and application of psychological knowledge to help people understand themselves and begin to make appropriate changes, or to be comfortable with who they are. Psychotherapy has several different theoretical models that have developed over time, the most commonly known being psycho-analysis. The therapy that I practise uses some of the best ideas from these differing schools of thought in order to help people achieve not only a rapid rate of improvement but also a lasting one. It has its basis in a cognitiveanalytical model that seeks to look at the process behind thought, and understand how it has developed, and of course how to change negative thought processes into positive ones. Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a very effective method of treatment. It is a state of altered consciousness with increased and heightened awareness, which is often accompanied by deep relaxation; this in itself can be beneficial. Contrary to popular belief it does not involve becoming unconscious and has nothing to do with sleep. Hypnosis cannot be forced upon people, but it is a state which people allow themselves to enter. It is important to understand that, during hypnosis, people cannot be forced to do things that they would choose not to do. Hypnosis or "trance" as it is often referred to is similar to the experience of day dreaming, when you lose a sense of time and may without thought continue a task that routinely requires concentration, such as driving from one place to another but not actually remembering the journey. This is an example of an altered state of consciousness that we experience every day of our lives. What is Hypno-psychotherapy?
Hypno-psychotherapy is the practice of psychotherapy with applied hypnosis being the primary approach. The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, the lead body for the provision of Psychotherapy in the United Kingdom, recognises the practice of hypno-psychotherapy. Both hypnotherapy and hypno-psychotherapy utilise hypnosis in a therapeutic form, however an individual that only practises as a hypnotherapist may not have undertaken training in psychotherapeutic theory and practice. For therapists to be able to register with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy requires an extensive programme of 4 years training. Short courses of study that are readily available may give an insight into the techniques and practice of hypnosis, but they do not in themselves enable the practitioner to be able to address all forms of presenting problems. It is strongly advised that anyone seeking any form of therapy investigates the qualifications and registrations of the practitioners they approach for treatment. A United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy registered therapist will always provide information relating to their qualifications and registrations if requested. Anyone in the world By Dr. Gary S. Goodman One of the great disappointments conventional managers and business owners face when they first use telemarketers is the amazing amount of employee turnover. By comparison, if you want to hire someone to do customer service, especially if theyre experienced, you can expect them to be stable. Theyll probably last six months or a year or two, at minimum. Hire somebody on Monday for telemarketing, and if theyre still aboard by Friday, throw a party! You just may have someone who will last a month, or wow, even two! Am I exaggerating? Sadly, Im not. Why is there such turnover? (1) The economy is strong, unemployment is low, and telemarketing jobs are plentiful. This is a perfect storm for recruiters. There arent many people available who arent already in the labor force. The ones who are available may be returning after a long absence, or are marginal workers, at best, without drive and discipline and with few skills. (2) Telemarketing is a grind. To be productive, you have to keep your nose to the grindstone, and for this reason, I suggest shifts be shorter than eight hours. Four to five hours can even be a burnout. (3) Telemarketing is harder than most people think. Think about the people you know. How many of them would rise to the top in sales, on the phones or off? Frighteningly few, I can tell you. (4) Telemarketing requires a bigger investment than management ever expected. Like a war gone badly, where men and materiel are consumed at an unimaginable pace, telemarketing units chew up resources quickly, as well. Especially daunting, are the ongoing costs for recruiting and training. Ads in newspapers and online cost a lot, and you have to constantly rewrite them, so your jobs will sound fresh and attractive. (5) Telemarketing, unless its being done for a radio or TV station or for a glamorous company or industry, isnt a high status job. People arent going to confess to doing it, unless it can be packaged attractively; i.e. I do market research for CSB News Radio, in Los Angeles. Consider these factors before you leap into doing telemarketing or invest in this area. And get some professional help, from a telemarketing consultant or tele-sales coach who knows the ropes, from the very start! Dr. Gary S. Anyone in the world By Christopher Pratt I am quite sure almost everyone in America knows what a mint is. No, not the one with all the money!!! But even so, probably just as rich in quality. Folks have been enjoying mint candies in the United States since the late 1790's. Mint in our country has a rich history. Brought to the new world as a medicine, eventually, it was used in the making of a wonderful treat. The ancients were intelligent about the uses of herbs for healing, and with great success, used mint for helping out with digestive problems and for that oh so important purpose of making one's breath fresh. Both concepts are still extensively in use today. However, it is the use of mint for candy making purposes that delights us and blesses us today. The hard candy mints we know today were invented in another century and still realize great popularity now. You have probably been to a restaurant where that pretty little red and white candy was brought to you after your dinner. Starlights, the red and white mints, are still big sellers in the candy world today. What baby shower has not been graced with those tiny little pink, yellow, and white soft mints. They are not only good, but they are pretty as well; and they serve a good purpose: To set a beautiful table and offer guests a little treat to snack on during a special occasion. In 1912 we saw the invention of the minty Lifesaver, so called because it really resembles a life preserver. Children and adults alike have savored these little rings for decades and they are still going strong. Now there are several different varieties and flavors. In 1949 we saw the emergence of a manufactured candy product called Junior Mints. The candy producers successfully married a creamy white mint filling with a delicious dark chocolate covering. Junior Mints were yummy then and they still are. This sparked a whole craze of combing the mint confection with creamy chocolate, and today you can get the fantastic combination in everything from After Eight dinner mints to Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. It is an extremely popular flavor combination. It seems as though almost everyone has at least one favorite mint product. Even those who don't subscribe to mint eating in general still say they love those little pastel balls of chocolate mints, or they like their Lifesavers, or maybe its those pastel drop Mint Melt- Aways. You can bet, if you asked 100 people what their favorite mint morsel was, you would get 100 affirmative answers and not one, "I don't eat mint."
