Play it Safe with Kids' Sports

Anyone in the world

By Molly Setnick Its just about time for school to start again (is summer vacation getting shorter?) and that means the start of sports programs for your children. The hot summer climate were still enjoying, and the increasingly competitive climate in childrens sports may raise some concerns about the safety of those programs. Here are a few guidelines to follow when evaluating your childs athletic ventures. It seems that over the past few years we have seen an increase in the number of children dying during, or soon after, sports games or practices. Most often the cause of death is a heart defect or severe dehydration. So, what can you, the parents, do to protect your child as he participates in 2-aday practices for football, or she runs laps on a hot track? See a doctor, hydrate and check for injuries. A good sports program should require a physical and a medical release form signed by a physician. Prior to the check-up the doctor should be told that the child will be participating in sports so that he can look for and identify pre-existing conditions such as asthma and other pulmonary disorders, and any heart conditions. If your sports program doesnt require a physical, have one done anyway just to be on the safe side. The increased ozone and pollution levels that come with summer heat merit close attention too, as they can exacerbate physical conditions that might otherwise be easily managed. Get the doctors approval before letting your child begin a sports program, and heed warnings to stay indoors on level orange and red pollution days. Always make sure your child is well hydrated. It is important for him to be well hydrated before he arrives at the practice or game and it is important for him to continue to hydrate. Understandably, you might not be able to attend all of the teams practices to monitor your childs water intake, so make sure you make your child aware of the importance of drinking water. Make sure the coaches, too, understand the importance of hydrating. The rule of thumb for drinking before, during, and after exercise, is to stop for fluid breaks every 15-20 minutes. Water is a great option for hydrating your kids, but if they dont like the taste (or lack there of) then look to a sports drink or watered-down juice to keep them lapping it up. If your kids are staying active for more than an hour at a time, sports drinks are a better choice because of the calories (energy) they provide, and the electrolytes they help replace. Water has zero calories which means zero energy. Be sure to stay away from carbonated drinks - they only provide stomachaches. Injuries are another problem to watch out for. Again, if you are unable to attend practices/games, you may be unaware that your daughter rolled her ankle, or your son fell on his wrist. Its a good idea to ask for specific details about how the practice was, and give your child a good visual once-over to make sure hes not limping or favoring one arm over the other. Any injury that occurs at an early age and goes untreated will probably plague your child for many years to come. Make sure the coach is aware of injuries and make doubly sure he does not allow your child to play while injured. We all loved watching Keri Strug nail that last vault during the 96 Olympics with a hurt ankle, but that definitely was a bad idea. She is very lucky if she isnt still struggling with that ankle today. Why risk a lifetime of pain and restrictions to win - even a gold medal? Be overly involved in your childrens sports programs. Go to the practices, go to the games, talk to your kids, their coaches, and their doctor all season long, and the next and the next. Make it your goal to focus on children getting good exercise, having a great time, and honing athletic skills. And do it all in a safe environment. Coming Out... As an Internet Dater
by dan - Wednesday, 5 March 2008, 01:32 PM
Anyone in the world

By Ellen Friedrichs A few weeks ago I was having lunch with a casual acquaintance. As we were chatting, she mentioned her new boyfriend, Adam. "Oh," I asked. "How did you two meet?" She looked around and said, "Well, I guess I can tell you. I mean, he tells everyone." And then she lowered her voice slightly, "We met online." Now, to me, the phrase, we met online is not one that warrants a lowered voice and furtive glance around the room before being uttered. But, apparently admitting to meeting over the internet has not quite become the stuff of polite conversation. In reality, this shouldn't be that surprising. There are some long-standing stigmas attached to this type of coupling; often holdovers from the days of newspaper personal ads and video dating services. My first encounter with personal ad dating came when I was a teenager. I was at an older cousin's wedding. At one point during the reception, my mother whispered to me, "You know, they met through the personal ads." Forgetting my whereabouts I loudly repeated, "The personals?" only to get a sound motherly shushing. But, I was confused. My cousin didn't seem desperate. Or weird for that matter. Weren't those the types of people who did this? Now, granted I was a teenager and not fully versed in the ways of the world, but I would hazard a guess that I wasn't the only one under the impression that only desperate divorcees and perverted polygamists would place an ad looking for a date. Of course, it was more likely than not the daters in question were simply busy people with specific needs and interests whose social lives had not yet presented them with an appropriate match. Just like internet daters today. Now that internet dating has been going strong for nearly a decade, people are coming around to the idea that there is no more shame in meeting someone online that there is in meeting someone through a friend, at a bar or over the office water cooler. My friend Andy and his live-in-love met on an internet dating site a few years ago. However, this wasn't initially what they told people, instead concocting a tale about meeting in a park on their way to work. Eventually, the happy couple felt silly perpetuating the fabricated story and outed themselves to friends and family. Not surprisingly, the only negative reactions came from people who didn't understand why they had invented the park fable in the first place. Still, as Andy says, "In the beginning we felt a little pathetic, like we had to go online to get a date. And, I know Jen was worried that people would think we had just been looking for a hook up. But, we got over that pretty quick!" Many internet daters see these qualms as being decidedly out of touch. Twenty-seven year-old Ilana explains, "I have no problem telling people I'm doing Internet dating because everyone's doing it. I think the fact the people do everything on the Internet makes it seem totally natural. You do all your communication on the internet. All your research on the Internet. Make all your plans on the Internet, so why not find someone to date on the internet?" Why not indeed? There's plenty of stuff out there to feel legitimately embarrassed about, an addiction to reality television and our love of Les Miserables for example. Online dating doesn't need to be added to that list. Who knows, in a few years, the idea of going out with someone without first being able to check his or her profile might seem positively pass. Wedding Hair Styles Do's and Don'ts

Anyone in the world

By Willie Jones Your wedding is a very special day and you of course want everything to be perfect. There are so many things to do it can make your head spin. But, if you allow enough time to really research everything, then you are well on your way. In this article I want to address hair. It is important to get it right because it can make or break the entire look you are trying to achieve. Here are some pointers about hair in general and I wrote about it in an earlier article: -If you are of Asian descent, then the hair strands are round and thicker than all other types of hair with the exception of the red head who has the thickest hair of all. Generally this hair can be easily worked with and is often healthy looking and lustrous if the diet is good. -If you are of European descent with blonde or dark hair, then your hair strands are thinner. The strands are round to oval shaped. This type of hair is easier to curl or straighten. -If you are of African descent, then the hair strands are flat and that is the reason for the frizz and curl. This can be the most difficult hair to work with. Another important factor is the shape of your face. Getting the wrong cut for your face shape can be a costly and an agonizingly long mistake, especially when you are getting married. If you dont know what the shape of your face is then here are some tips to help you find out. Get out a measuring tape because there are four places you will need to measure, the length of your face and the width of your face in three places; across the forehead, cheek bones and across the chin. Once you have the measurements done, here is what to look for: - A round face is approximately the same length and width with the widest part at the cheek bones. Dont wear short hair cuts unless you can sweep it back and have fullness at the top and the hair closer to the ear. This will give your face more balance. You can wear your hair longer but make sure to keep the fullness at the top and below the chin line. Keep the hair around your ears close to the face or it will accentuate the roundness. You want to lengthen the face. - An oval face is longer than the width and slightly rounded at the forehead and the chin is a bit smaller than the temple. This face shape can wear just about any hair style, long, medium or short. Most models have this face shape and as you can see they wear all different styles. This is one of the face shapes that can pull off the slicked back hair. If you have this face shape then you might want to consider pulling your hair back and wearing your veil under the bun as apposed to the veil coming over the face. - A rectangular face is long and slender and the forehead and jaw line are about equal (even though the chin may be a bit narrow). With this shape what you want to accomplish is giving the face a more rounded appearance. Dont wear the hair too long and try and get more fullness around the ears and cheek bones. This shape can wear wispy bangs or be parted at the side. With the forehead being already high, dont put too much height on the top of your head and dont wear it too long. You dont want to give your face too much length. This shape does well with the veil over the face or the veil starting at the top with the fullness being around the ears and cheek bones. - A heart shaped face is wide at the forehead and temple and narrows at the chin. This face shape looks great with chin length hair with wispy bangs or parted at the side. You want accomplish balance by having your hair fuller under the ears and at the nape of the neck. A chin length bob is great. A short veil that is narrow at the crown and gets fuller as it nears the chin and past works well. - A square face is strong in the jaw and somewhat flat in the forehead. You dont want to accentuate the strong lines of the face so youll want to add width around the ears, maybe a part in the middle and you want to add height to somewhat elongate the face. Short to medium hair works well. If your hair is straight then try out some curl. Research well ahead of time can save you the agony of a wrong choice. Find out what you face shape is and start looking at magazines, go online and look at celebrity hair cuts and compare them to your face shape and hair type. Talk to your hairdresser and discuss photos that you like and what might work best for you. This is your special day so make it perfect! Foundation Top Picks!

Anyone in the world

By Sher Matsen Hi, I'm the Fashion & Beauty Consultant for Estate Jewelry International where we don't just sell jewelry but "pamper" the whole you! It's always tough finding the "perfect" foundation for your skin type, color, and texture. Some products are heavy, some don't cover so well, others don't blend well. We'll review a few of the products which we tried. Tinted Moisturizers * Laura Mercier tint moisturizer that leaves your skin feeling fresh. Comes in 7 shades all very natural. It has an SPF of 20 and is fortified with age-defying antioxidants. * Elizabeth Arden tint moisturizer blends easily with enough coverage that you don't feel naked. It doesn't build up on dry patches. Demotologist tested. It has a SPF of 15 * Hydramax tint moisturizer is a lightweight hydrating lotion balancing moisture and coverage with natural-colour tint. Extract of Butterfly Lavender helps boost hydration by stimulating the water-trapping proteins essential for skin's proper moisture balance. Comes in 2 shades. * Bobbi Brown tint moisturizer won the "Best New Foundation" award in Nov 2004 in Health Magazine. This formula is rich and luxurious so its perfect for anyone with extra dry skin. It blends easily and gives skin light coverage. Deeply moisturizes skin, to help reduce the look of fine lines. Dermatologist tested. * Avon tint moisturizer is great for younger skin, however it has a tendency to stick out like a sore thumb on dry skin. I tried applying it as a foundation with a make up sponge and as a moisturiser using my fingertips and both times my skin looked terrible. It has a nice feel and a pleasant floral scent but the overall look it gave me was not natural in any way, the dry spots on my face seemed to show badly. Perhaps better suited for pre 40's skin.
Liquid Foundations * Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk liquid foundation is lush yet feather light with a very sheer texture. It is exceptional at correcting discoloration, elimating redness and blotchiness. Comes in 14 shades. * L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation is a nice light weight and has terrific texture. No oils, fragrences or pore clogging materials. Contains vitamins B & E as well as glycerin to nourish the skin. Available in 24 colors. * Laura Mercier liquid foundation is water based yet exceptionally creamy with a nice smooth finish. It has great coverage for a non oil based product. It isn't greasy or drying and the color matches well. Application is best with a sponge, and you can get more or less coverage depending on how much you apply. Takes a few minutes to set. * Revlon Age Defying liquid foundation has great coverage and does not feel heavy. It does have a fragrance which does not go away. May hot be the best choice if your skin is at all oily. By mid day face may tend to feel oily and some experience "zit" outbreaks. It has an SPF of 30. Limited colors. * T Leclerc Hydrating Fluid liquid foundation is best applied with a sponge or fingers. Its super thin so you hardly know its there. Comes in 6 shades. It has an SPF of 8.
Mousse Foundation * Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse is my all time favourite foundation. It gives great coverage but you feel like you've got nothing on. It's lighweight and easy to apply. I find it's best applied with fingers. If your skins a little on the dry side apply a moisturizer and then the mousse and it says light weight. It lasts all day and I've never had a break out using this product. It's advertised as a revolutionary whipped formula and that describes its texture perfetly. Available in 10 shades. * Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Mousse is easy to apply and it never looks cakey or thick. Good coverage for such a sheer foundation. Great for dry skin. If you have oily or dry skin you may find yourself oily by mid day. I must say the smell can be a little harsh. If your at all sensative to smells have a whiff before buying. Dermatologist, clinically, allergy tested. Recommended for all skin types, except extra-oily. * Erno Laszlo Absolute Finish Finishing Mousse Foundation is water free, air whipped providing flawless coverage. It is good for almost all skin types except for very oily skin and those that have a sensitivity to salicylic acid. Its very light and coverage can be sheer to complete. Stays on all day. Its a water free air whipped. Contains Emu Oil and essential fatty acids for non greasy moisturizing. Antioxidants vitamin A, C, & E to defend against free radical damage. It has UVA and UVB protection, and it is Dermatologist tested. Wouldn't life be grand if one product worked for all of us. However, that's not the case so although I try and review products I cannot tell you how they will work on your skin. Most reputable cosmetic companies will refund or exchange a product if you are unhappy with it. When you find a product that works for you stay with it. Remember your fashion statement includes the whole you from your hair to the polish on your toes, from your hat to your shoes, from your earrings to the rings on your fingers. So be sure to let the world know who you are and Make Your Fashion Statement! Resumes OR CV : Get That Job

By Neen James Your resume is your sales document. It tells the world of your achievements, capabilities and roles you have enjoyed. It should standalone and represents you well. To impress your potential employers there are a few guidelines that will help you create an amazing resume. Create a captivating covering letter use friendly language, refer to the job advertised and allow some of your personality to show through this document. Dont present it in plastic folders these are bulky and expensive and your interviewer will discard the unsuccessful applicants anyway. Keep it simple, clean and stapled. Keep it short no more than 2-3 pages maximum. Only refer to the past 10 15 years experience of your career, regardless of how long you have been working. Keep it relevant only include details that are significant and important to help sell you. Start the resume with a Personal Capability Statement. This is 2-3 sentences or bullet points on what you are good at, your skills and knowledge. Place it right at the top of the document so it is the first thing people see. Place your contact information in the footer of the document so if they print it out your details are on every page. Dont dedicate a whole page to your contact information. You only need to list your name, address, mobile and email contact numbers. Dont use italics or underlining. These can be hard to read and will make your document look messy. Use a common 12 font i.e. Times New Roman or Arial are safe. Avoid fancy fonts that also may not work when emailing documents. Dont use gimmicks or present it as a PowerPoint presentation interviewers dont like this. Use white space dont cramp the document and this will allow the interviewer to also write notes on the document. Avoid jargon or industry terms and acronyms. If you use acronyms always list an explanation of what that it. Not everyone is familiar with all the terms. Dont list your job description dont bore the reader with everything you did in the job. List your responsibilities make a short and relevant list of the responsibilities you had in each role. List your achievements many people only list their responsibilities in the resume, make sure yours stands out by listing your achievements. Make the achievements specific use statistics, client testimonials and comments and targeted information i.e. increased sales by 21%, received 97% on customer satisfaction survey. Show others and get their feedback about the document find people who understand resumes and can give you constructive feedback on your resume. Get it edited pay for someone to edit your document and check for spelling and grammar. This small cost will give it a professional finish. Dont send academic transcripts, work samples save this for the face-to-face interview. Use positive and energetic words in your resume. Avoid clichs and look for creative ways to package what you want to say. This document should sell you, be honest, get feedback on it and then send it out confidently for the jobs you desire. What Makes a Man Fall in Love
by dan - Thursday, 28 February 2008, 04:53 PM
Anyone in the world

By David Zinczenko Think of a great relationship as though it were a great meal: A delicious, meaty steak of sexual passion accompanied by a fine, delicate wine of romance and commitment. Both of us want it all -- the perfect, satisfying course. And we need both -- steak by itself is dry and unsatisfying; and wine will get you tipsy, but it won't satisfy your hunger. Now, before the metaphor police revoke my license, let me simply push this analogy a little further: Men are a little more focused on the meat of the relationship, and women a bit more on the wine. But both sexes want to get up from the table completely satisfied. Need evidence? More than three-fourths of men believe in soul mates (see above). And when we asked our guys to choose between meeting the love of their life or having amazing sex for six months, 92 percent chose falling in love. (The other 8 percent were probably Maxim readers.) Consider what these three men said about the experience of falling in love: "We need to feel love, loyalty, and chemistry above all else," says Ian, 31. "Men also feel the butterflies and giddiness that women do when they're in love," says Robert, 26. "Women don't realize most guys are in love long before they are willing to admit it to anyone," says Drew, 30. So why then does it always seem like women are leading the relationship toward commitment, and men need to be dragged along like a preschooler to a dentist appointment? Because in the early-on Stratego game of dating, we need to see where you're moving first. Consider this: Less than half of men say they're typically the first ones to say "I love you" in a relationship, and more women than men initially broach the subject of taking the relationship to the next level. That points to the notion that what men really want when it comes to love is your assurance -- your permission, really -- that it's okay to let the butterflies out of the cage. Michael, 37, a restaurant owner in North Carolina, says he's cautious about expressing himself early on -- not because he's complacent or wants to play games or wants to make the woman squirm like a mouse in a cat's mouth. He holds back because he's waiting to get the signal that it's okay to press the accelerator. "I love to hear that I'm her dream come true, or some version of that, if that's the case," he says. "I need a little praise and attention, just as much as she needs it from me. That's the sign I need. Then, I know I can give her what she needs." Chris, 29, a recently married public defender, agrees. "Men need to be told that they're wanted," he says. "Women forget that if they like a nice guy, that the nice guy might be too nervous to tell them what he feels." And then he added this interesting insight: "Women need to be more open to being hurt the way guys are every day." Hold on a second. Guys are hurt more often than women? Hmm. Think about it: In the romance game, it's usually the man who makes the first move (usually after you've dropped him countless hints waiting for him to finally pick up on them). But in doing so, men open themselves up to more rejection than a telemarketing trainee. And believe me, even George Clooney has a psychic master list of turn-downs that he still winces over from time to time. So once a man has crossed that first barrier -- okay, you like him, it's safe -- he's reluctant to cross the next. Like monkeys in a lab, we've been shocked plenty of times before, and if we're in a safe place with you, we're happy simply to stay there. So it's a delicate balance -- a woman needs to signal that it's okay for him to take the next step, without making him feel as if he's being pushed toward it. Let him know that you feel there's something really special between you. Let him know it's okay if he lets himself feel that, too. But proceed cautiously -- there's danger ahead, as you'll see. How Do I Know Where This Relationship is Heading?
I've been seeing a guy for about three weeks, and I feel like it's going to be pretty serious. After the first two dates, we've been seeing each other a lot. Last week, we got together twice during the week and twice on the weekend. I'd like to talk about where this is headed, but I don't want to scare him away. I just want to make sure we're both on the same page about where we are, whether we're seeing other people, and where this might go. What's he thinking? He's thinking that, three weeks into dating, he doesn't want to have this conversation. To him, that's a relationship birth announcement. Today, we welcome the birth of a beautiful committed couple, weighing in at eight dates, two movies, and six orgasms (five for him, one for her): It's Bob and Cindy! Congratulations! It's too formal, too official, too planned. And that formality serves as the fire extinguisher to the initial spark he's been feeling. "The only thing worse than a woman who doesn't show any interest after a few dates is a woman who shows too much," says Anthony, 25. Terry, 32, adds: "Slow down. Please don't tell us that you love us after three weeks." Think of it this way. You know how you don't like when he skips the foreplay and goes right to the sex? When you talk about the status of a relationship too early, it's like skipping the foreplay of pursuit and going right to the private parts of commitment. If he's seeing you four times a week, then it's a good sign that your relationship is headed in the right direction. Just let him have some fun -- and some mystery -- while he's getting there. How Do I Know When It's Time to Tell Him my Feelings?
I've been seeing a man for only two months. Perfect guy. He's funny, has a great job, I love hanging out with him. We even took this great weekend vacation together and everything seemed to click. I just have this feeling that this is going to work, and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way. I don't want to blow it, and while I obviously don't want to pretend to be somebody that I'm not, I also don't want to do anything that could jeopardize the relationship. Any hints for how to take things from here? Two months may seem like a blip on the relationship radar, but for some guys, that qualifies as a full-fledged era. At this point, men certainly want some honesty. "If she is more open with me, I'll be more open with her, especially at the beginning when you're both feeling each other out, emotionally," says Warren, 33. But that comes with a caution. Feel free to be honest about your feelings, but don't make assumptions about his. Don't use the word us. At this stage, you'll solidify your primo status if you talk about what you like about him, what you get out of a relationship with him, what turns you on about him. Us scares him; him excites him. (Yes, we're our own favorite subject, but that's just human nature.) It's a way of saying you love the relationship while giving him the ego-boosting rush he craves -- all without making him think you're brushing up on the four Cs of diamond shopping. At this still-early stage, that's a secret to tip-toeing between giving him permission to love and giving him a reason to leave. Should I Give Him an Ultimatum?
My live-in boyfriend and I have been seeing each other for about a year and a half, living together for somewhere around six months. I'm 31 and my family is giving me a hard time -- like I should just go ahead and move on if he's not going to be the one because I'm wasting time. My best friend even says to me that there's no way he's going to marry me because he's getting all the sex of a nonmarried relationship without the commitment. I've debated a lot about giving him an ultimatum or a deadline, but something tells me that's a bad idea. How will I know if he's ever going to be ready to make the next step? You may think that men are afraid of the marriage commitment because we want to leave options open, because we're waiting for something better, or because we fear it'll be the official end of hot-tub sex. Jay, 30, says a man's hesitation isn't about indifference; it's actually the opposite. "Men are just as unsure about the relationship thing as women," he says. "I'm getting married in a couple months to a woman I love deeply, who I know will be a fantastic wife and mother to my future children. Is she my soul mate? Tough question, but if not, she's pretty darn close." When we decide we want to be married, we want to do the right thing -- for both of us. So should you give him an ultimatum? I don't think so. If you've been honest with him about your feelings for him -- for him, not for "the relationship" -- then you're probably at the point in your relationship where you should be able to ask him straight up about his feelings for you. If he can't tell you what he thinks and what he feels, well, that's probably your answer. Herbal Therapies and Remedies: The New Wave?

Anyone in the world

By Danna S While there are a lot of people who will naysay the virtues of alternative medicine and herbal therapies and remedies, there is also a subculture cropping of people who refuse to be swayed by the conventions of modern medicine and all the naysaying, and live a completely drug free lifestyle. And very successfully I might add. The funny thing is that some of the healthiest people I know never pop any sort of drugs or man made pills, not even Tylenol or Advil when they get headaches. Instead, they either go without conventional medications, or try alternative remedies or natural methods to get rid of their aches and pains, headaches, cramps, and more. The list of herbal cures, remedies, alternative therapies and natural medicines goes on and on. It seems you can either cure or drastically improve a wide variety of symptoms, illnesses, mental conditions, and even physical imperfections like acne or embarrassing nuisances like bad breath with some sort of alternative, unconventional, and yet oddly effective natural alternative. Think about it, most prescription drugs and medications were at some point derived from a natural substance in most cases. If you can take that same product, in its natural state, don't you think this would require less processing by your body, and be better for your overall heatlh than putting possible toxins in your body, which may remain for months or years and can even have residual, long term effects? While skepticism on the effectiveness of many of these natural alternatives is still prevalent, there are an increasing number of "herbal converts" who swear by any number of natural remedies and herbal medicines to cure whatever ails them. The skepticism quite frankly is understandable though, because a lot of companies with watered down, ineffective products that use old and inert herbs and natural compounds jumped on the herbal bandwagon, and have made a bad name for the herbal business. For every high quality and effective herbal medicine, there are at least two or three that do not work. Researching your product of choice is key. Does the company offer testimonials, or standardization information on their product? Do they have some sort of approval seal for any ingredients that may only be effective in a certain form, or purity standard? Are they reputable, and have they been around for a long time? These are the types of things to research and look for when you are purchasing an herbal supplement or alternative health product. Whether you are taking a supplement simply for health reasons, in other words to maintain health and wellness, or you are taking an herbal or natural supplement to actually combat a symptom of some kind, knowing what you are buying is key. It is also going to determine whether you will be among one of the growing legions of natural medicine converts, or a skeptic who sticks to conventional medicines. I for one, will continue "going natural". Tanning The Natural Way

By Caryl B. Grecia This is a call to everybody. Save your skin, now before its too late! Having a tan makes you look more healthy and gorgeous. But how do you do it without bad consequences? There are a lot of people who would like to have golden brown skin. It is not a new sight when people go to the beach to lie almost naked under the sun just to have an equal tan. But, it is not so safe to do just that because of the super harmful UV rays. Instead of getting only a perfectly golden skin, one might suffer a serious case of skin cancer later, too. There are plenty of options in tanning today. More modern ways are undergoing medical treatment to acquire a sun-less tan. However, there are still some modern techniques that use radiation powered machines to tan the skin. And radiation is also bad to the health. There are more techniques that could give a person a perfect tan. But most of them cost so much because they are highly specialized techniques and reduces (or even eliminates) usage of radiation or UV rays. But to an average person who desires to have a golden skin, it would not be very practical to pay so much to have the desired healthy golden skin. There are ways to achieve a perfect tan without exposing yourself to the sun and spending so much on skin clinics. There are ready-to-use products that are safe to use and are inexpensive compared to the services offered in skin clinics. Here are some tips for a safe, sunless and costless tanning right in your homes. Remember that before applying those sunless tanners, the body must first be thoroughly cleaned and exfoliated by using loofah or soft cloth to wash off dust and dead skin cells. This way, even tan will surely be achieved. Use moderate amount on knees, elbows and other parts with thick, dry skin, as they will appear darker. Use a sponge paintbrush, about two to three inches in size, in applying tanner on the back. When applying in the face, avoid spreading in and around the eyes. After application, immediately wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. Use a make-up wedge when applying at the backs of your hands in smooth even strokes as well as on your feet and between the toes. Apply the tanner using both horizontal and vertical strokes or circular motion. When using a spray tanner, avoid saturating it. Instead, spray and blend quickly and thoroughly over one body part then do the same to the rest of the body. After making sure the tanner is applied evenly, wait for about one hour before applying any moisturizer or foundation or going swimming/bathing. Also, avoid contact with carpets, fabrics, clothing, and furniture. If necessary, and for a deeper tan, repeat process. A very important reminder for you: Stay away from the sun from 10:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon. That is when the sun is most harmful. Remember that wanting a beautiful skin is not merely an act of vanity. Taking care of your skin is also taking care of your health. Protecting it from the sun is the most important gift you could give your skin. Have a beautiful and safe tan just right in your home without spending so much.
