Wedding Scrapbook Album
by dan - Thursday, 6 December 2007, 11:30 AM
Anyone in the world

By Vera Raposo A wonderful way to start your scrapbooking tradition is with a wedding scrapbook album. It is a good idea to plan page layouts and ideas ahead of time. You can start by making a list of activities that will be taking place before the wedding. Or plan the activities around the pages you do want to include in your album. Bachelors or bachelorettes parties, rehearsal dinners and even your honeymoon can offer very memorable and unique keepsakes to use in your scrapbooking. One way to begin a wedding scrapbook album is to display both of your lives before the wedding. Make a his and her page with a photo and journalize, use photos or small items that show personal hobbies, friends, sports, interests and anything that defines characteristics or personalities. You can also have his and her pages about how we met and both of you can express your feelings about your first meeting. Make some of your pages unique and pass around a page for friends and family to offer advice to the happy couple. Other memorabilia to include in your album might be an invitation, guest lists, specially made napkins or pressed flowers from your bouquet. When the wedding is behind you, a great way to close your wedding scrapbook album is for the both of you to write down your thoughts about your wedding experience. Keep a notebook with you to keep track of ideas, thoughts or details that you might want to include in your scrapbook. Careful planning and attention to details before the big day creates a beautiful memory you can share for years to come. Vera Raposo has been scrapbooking since her oldest child was 5. Natural Algae Fighters That Work
by dan - Wednesday, 5 December 2007, 04:06 PM
Anyone in the world

By Mark Washburn When the warm weather of summer finally arrives most pond owners are faced with a very common problem called pond algae. Pond algae can strike any size pond at any time, but usually a few very specific things have to be present for it to spread rapidly. Knowing what allows algae to prosper is the first step to treating it naturally. First though, let's make one thing clear. Algae, or it's presence in a pond is not always bad. A little bit of it here or there is actually a positive sign that the pond is healthy and balanced. When algae takes over the pond entirely however, things are not very balanced at all. Algae is very dependent on excessive nutrients in the water to grow. Therefore this should be your first priority...to reduce or eliminate excess nutrients in the pond. These can come from decomposing organic matter like leaves or grass clippings. Nutrients can also come for fish waste or decomposing fish food. With these things in mind, it's best to remove any organic matter from the pond before it starts to decay at the bottom. Skimmers can help with this in smaller ponds. Also, if you have fish, be sure to not overstock them in a smaller pond. Generally 1 inch of fish needs about 10 gallons of water to stay balanced. If your ratio is over this, you may be overstocked. Be sure to not overfeed your fish as well. Provide them enough food to consume in about five minutes time. Pond algae also needs adequate sunlight to grow aggressively so if you can minimize exposure to the sun, this can often help. In some cases, you can't always keep sunlight from entering the pond or keep all the debris from settling in it. Then it's often best to turn to other treatments or options. In smaller ponds adding plants is a very beneficial thing to do. Surface plants like water lilies help absorb excess nutrients and also help shade the pond. Water grasses are great at helping clear a pond as well. Since it can take up to 60% coverage of a pond's surface to keep algae at bay, some people like to also use a natural beneficial bacteria product to help consume some of the excess nutrients and assist in the breakdown of organic matter in the pond. Bacteria and enzyme products have been proven to be one of the safest and most effective ways to keep a pond clean. There are many varieties available on the market today. All of the methods outlined above are highly preferred over using chemicals in a pond or water garden. Chemicals come with inherent risks and also don't help much in cleaning a pond in a natural fashion. Over the long term they can cause many more problems than then solve. Mark Washburn is an experience pond treatment specialist that uses natural solutions to keep ponds and watergardens clean and algae free. 3 Cool Cell Phone Tricks For You
by dan - Tuesday, 4 December 2007, 01:58 PM
Anyone in the world

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gabriel_J._Adams]Gabriel J. Adams Cell phones have become ubiquitous. It is now unusual to find anyone who does not have one of the little beasties. The obvious next step was to seek a means to ensure your cell phone is unique and different from all of the others out there. A variety of features exist in varying combinations and there are the usual tricks like customizing the picture on the screen or the ringtone. These are almost all more style than substance. Weve all experienced the ringtone that outstays its welcome and then just wont go away or a ringtone that is just particularly inopportune for some reason. There are also stories of just the wrong cell phone wallpaper showing the bosses relative or some other potentially embarrassing sight. Some people actually use those phones for something other than status symbols. Here are a couple of tricks for those. One potentially useful trick is the doggie whistle. For cell phones that allow multiple ring tones, using the inaudible dog whistle for one provides a handy method to discourage annoying dogs that might chase you as you jog, harass you as you walk or some other hassle. Another useful trick is that of habitually locking the phones keys when you replace it into a pocket, purse or other container. The random presses of buttons that otherwise occur are a drain on battery power unless the phone has been told to ignore them with the lock command, and can potentially save money if the phone might accidentally hit the correct combination to make a call. Another useful feature to save battery power is airplane mode, for those times when you do not desire to answer the phone but do expect to need the phone's other features, such as a planner function or even clock. Finally, cell phones are terribly convenient. Carrying around a phone book isnt. Yet conventional directory assistance costs can add up. The alternative is 800-FREE411, or 800-373-3411. This is an ad supported directory assistance that can be used to find numbers you havent stored on your phone without running up those directory assistance charges. Parents - Don't Believe Your Kids When They Say - "I Want My Own Bedroom!"
by dan - Monday, 3 December 2007, 02:38 PM
Anyone in the world

By Shauna Haehl Our kids biggest complaint while growing up was that they had to share a bedroom. Since we have two boys and two girls, I saw sharing as a perfect and natural arrangement two bedrooms two in each. They dreamed of the day when they would have a bedroom to call their own If I had my own room I could listen to my favorite music all night. If I had my own room I could read mysteries all night. I want my own room so I can have the closet to myself. I want my own room so I can have privacy when my friends come over. So when we decided to build a house, of course, their #1 request was for individual bedrooms. I didnt make any promises, but secretly thought it would make for smoother family life if the house we built had enough bedrooms for each child. There would be no more arguing about who was the Messy One. I would hear no more shouts to Turn off the light! or threats against those crossing the line marking . . . my side of the room! I would no longer have to stand at the bottom of the stairs and yell for everyone to BE QUIET and GO TO SLEEP! When we finalized the house plans, there were enough bedrooms to eliminate sharing. Throughout construction our children talked endlessly about the possibilities and how once and for all it would finally be proven that She was the Messy One--not me! The first thing I noticed after moving into our new home was that the messiness was evenly distributed. Then, I noticed that the boys, whose bedrooms faced each other, kept their doors open all night so they could talk to each other. After we had been in our home several days I went to kiss the girls goodnight. Our oldest daughter wasnt in her room. When I looked in our youngest daughters bedroom I found them both settled in there together on the bed. What are you guys doing? Giggling, they answered, Were having a sleep-over! They have since had many such sleep-overs. Weve been in our home several years now and I had forgotten all this until yesterday when my daughter and I were hiking and talking. She said she was glad that she and her sister are such good friends. I wondered how that came to be, because I remembered some of their battles with each other. She answered, I think its because we shared a bedroom all those years. We would argue during the day, but once we were in bed with the lights out, we told stories and laughed and talked about our day and the people we knew. We gave each other back rubs and foot rubs. She concluded, I think it was during those times that we really bonded. I wish now that I could go back to those days in our smaller home and change my call from the bottom of the stairs to, Talk, laugh--dont worry about sleep! You will cherish this friendship the rest of your life. See Celebrating Motherhood for helps in building strong mother and child bonds & attachment as well as other parenting tips and encouragement.

Dieting Obstacle When Life Gets in the Way
by dan - Monday, 26 November 2007, 03:49 PM
Anyone in the world

By Kathryn Martyn, M.NLP Dieting Dilemma No 1: When Life Gets in the WayThat pesky thing called life has a way of fouling up our the best laid plans. First you decide you're going to start keeping your car cleaner, thinking, "I'll wash it every Saturday morning." Great, you have a plan. Saturday comes along and someone calls inviting you to go golfing. "I was going to wash the car, but I can do it when I get back," and off you go. Maybe you do wash the car later that day, maybe you tell yourself, "I'll wash it next Saturday. It wasn't that dirty anyway." Next week Saturday comes along and someone invited you camping so you're in the woods thinking, "Oh, well, I can't wash the car from here, can I?" Another Saturday rolls around and you've forgotten all about your car washing plan, so even though you're not doing anything else you're thinking, "I don't really FEEL like washing the car right now. I'll do it later," and so it goes. "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans." -- John Lennon It happens to all of us. You join the gym and immediately get the flu. Sign up for a adult education class and you're car breaks down on the first night. When you need to water the grass there's no rain in sight, but wash the car and what always happens? These examples aren't meant to give you a pessimistic outlook but instead to point out why persistence in the face of obstacles is what separates the haves from the have nots. It's not what happens but what you DO with what happens that mattersThe best approach is one-day-at-a-time, or even lesser intervals depending on what you are attempting to do. If you're trying to quit smoking, you might want to take things half-an-hour at a time. With food or eating it can be one meal at a time, one hunger pang or craving at a time, or whatever interval works for you. Choose your Time Interval then Make it HappenIf you say you'll never do something again (smoke, overeat, over drink) it never lasts (you must build in the possibility of occasional lapse), but if you wake up in the morning and decide for that day, and only that day, that you will follow through with your plan, for just that one day, then it does happen. There's a real rush of accomplishment when you wake up and realize that yesterday you did follow-through; you accomplished what you set out to do. And that's when it's easier to decide your intention for that day (or that hour) once again. Each accomplishment builds onto the next, and it gets easier and easier. Learning to follow-through takes practice. Let Successes Build, Lapses PassIt takes practice to get proficient no matter what you are learning, so plan to persist. Small lapses aren't failures, they are only lapses, and you then decided for the next time period. You will find that you are following through more often than not as time goes by. Doing this allows you to pre-plan when you know you'll not stick to your eating plan, thereby making it okay on occasion to over indulge. Holidays, special occasions. People who maintain a healthy body weight do this all the time without thinking about it. When you give yourself permission to indulge, it's amazing how much less you'll feel like overdoing it. What About Those Obstacles and Unexpected Events? What about when you decide and something comes up unexpectedly? For instance, you decided you're going to work out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday after work at 6:00 PM. This works great on Monday and Wednesday but Friday someone asks you to join them after work for drinks or dinner. Maybe that cute co-worker you've had your eye on. What do you do? Do you say, "No, thanks, I have to work out," and risk never getting to know that person, or "No, I already have plans," and sound like a jerk, or "Maybe some other time," and you know there'll never be another time, or "Yes, that sounds great," and then you berate yourself for being a whimp and not following through with your workout plan? Either way you're not going to feel good about your decision and you're setting yourself up to fail. Set Things Up So You'll Succeed - No Matter WhatInstead, set things up so you will succeed, no matter what. Before you decide what you want to do, think it through completely. This is part of the "Creating a Compelling Outcome" process (included in the Ending Emotional Eating Workshop). When you decide what you'd like to do you must also consider everything else that will be affected and whether your plan is workable in the real world. Maybe Friday night workouts are going to be interrupted often. Better then to choose a different day or time. If you thought about it before-hand you may have realized that things would often come up Friday evenings, so you decided to work out on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, or some other schedule. Thinking about what might interfere is why many people do their exercise in the early morning hours. Working out in the morning virtually ensures nothing else will interfere. No one invites you out for 6:00 AM except maybe your running partner! If you want to get up early, think it through. Are you a night person? Early morning hours probably won't work for you, but some other time will. Do you have a spouse who'd complain loudly? Consider them as well, but don't let everyone else's preferences keep you from doing what's best for you. Consider others and any objections they may have, and then decide in advance how to counter those objections. It's basically a way to look at your plans from all the angles, figure out the danger zones, decide in advance on strategies to keep you on track, and then get started. Secondly, realize that once in awhile you won't be able to keep to your plan. That's okay. Holidays interfere with gym hours. I've been annoyed when the gym was closed on Christmas Day! Sometimes despite your best efforts, things come up. That's okay too. You must be somewhat flexible, but at the same time persist to make sure you have scheduled a plan that can work the majority of the time. Use This Process on Any Change You'd Like to MakeIf you're making changes in your eating habits, do the same thing. I've done this successfully with many eating habits such as my old "Once a week cheese burgers and fries habit" which is now down to seldom or a couple of times a year. I did this by taking my four times a month cheese burgers and fries habit and cutting it back first to three times a month, then twice a month. Finally it was easy enough to just drop it. The habit was broken once I broke the regular cycle. Remember too, you're not setting up a perfectionist situation, but a plan you can live with and work with. Choose one small thing to change, one habit, one event. Achieving small wins daily builds to enormous successes, and life goes on. Enjoy every moment of it. Then, when those special situations arise, you'll know what to do, because you've already planned ahead, and even if you abandon your plan, for a vacation perhaps, you just get right back on track when you return feeling refreshed and excited to get started again. Relaxing like this on a vacation many find they eat a lot, play a lot and any weight they gain is lost within days of their return. Gift Basket Ideas for Men

Anyone in the world

By Lisa DeClue I'm always on the look out for great Gift Basket Ideas & have come up with a few especially for men. I'm using Home & Garden Party products, but you can easily adapt them to your line or what you have on hand. For the wannabe chef: Fill our Bean Pot with Carr's crackers, smoke flavoring, packets
of chili seasoning & hot sauce. Wrap with cello and a plaid (or
coordinating) bow with a masculine tag. He can make great chili
with very little work! For the shower: Take a citrus or clean-smelling set of shower gel & lotion, a small wooden handled scrub brush and a rolled wash cloth or two, put in a wire basket from the dollar store and wrap in cello... I suggest our Orange Blossom, Coconut Lime or Spearmint Eucalyptus scents. Coffee Hound: Fill a wire basket with shred, add packets of gourmet
coffee/cocoa and our "Life is Good" latte cup. Maybe add a mug warmer and wrap in a coordinating napkin. Time for our Date: We have some beautiful clocks with dark stain.
Wrap one, like our Hideaway Box Clock, in a delicate silk or chiffon scarf with a note inside saying, "Meet me at __________ (place)." Set the time on the clock to the time of your rendezvous! Publishing Guidelines:

A Teak Table - Accent Your Outdoor Decor With One
by dan - Saturday, 24 November 2007, 07:52 PM
Anyone in the world

By Jennifer Akre Its been time consuming, and there have been a lot of hard decisions along the way, but finally you have chosen the perfect outdoor furniture that fits your personality, budget and space. And as you sit on your new favorite chaise lounge, drink balanced precariously on the edge of the flower box to your left, you suddenly realize what your space is lacking: tables. Not just any table, but a teak table. The truth is: Not only are teak tables practical for your outdoor space, they also accent the larger pieces and tie everything together. A seating area without a teak table can sometimes look haphazard or not quite complete without the addition of these accent pieces. By investing just a little more, you can create a look that is truly elegant and perfect for entertaining. Maybe you already have a few pieces of teak furniture and you know first hand how beautiful and durable furniture made from this wood can be, or maybe you are just browsing for that perfect table. In either case, there are several reasons why you should give more than just a passing thought to purchasing a teak table. Teak is a hard strong durable yellowish-brown wood which is both resistant to the elements and requires little maintenance. This material is unique in that it can withstand the elements year after year with virtually no maintenance. With teak, there is no sanding, no sealing, no staining, and no finishing. The wood of the teak tree is also naturally resistant to insects, warping and splintering, which makes it an ideal wood for creating furniture. That means that even after decades of use, your teak table will remain beautiful and smooth with little help from you. And there is so much to choose from. Teak tables come in a wide variety of styles which include teak dining tables, teak patio tables, teak coffee tables and much, much more. Just think of how easy outdoor entertaining could be with the addition of a couple of these pieces. If you already have teak furniture in your garden or outdoor space, you can easily find a teak table created specifically to serve as accent pieces to your existing teak furniture. Do you have a Normandy teak bench? Did you know that you can purchase an end table which will exactly match your bench, right down to the intricate hand carved design? You can also choose from Chippendale, Nantucket and Adirondack designs, just to name a few. Although teak furniture can be slightly more expensive than furniture made with other materials, the price is well worth it. The quality, durability and beauty that are the trademarks of teak make these pieces far superior to the competition. So if you are searching for the perfect tables to accent your garden or outdoor space. Why not pick something unique, something that will be admired, and something that will match your own sense of style? Why not pick a teak table? Jennifer Akre is a successful business owner of numerous furniture websites such as http://www.MoreThanTeak.com. Her websites offer product and information about teak furniture and other decor for your home or garden.
